I'm another 'part time player', get maybe 4 hours a week tops to play at all. Just got back into ED when I saw the candy crew CG (I've found a nice source of palladium thats about 100ly away, no I'm not telling).
It took me ages to get the ship I'm currently in (A keelback FWIW, currently kitted out as a trader, the CG is my income stream to adapt it to surface missions or mining once the CG pays out).
My advice is that the big ships will come eventually, just enjoy the journey dude. Every time I dock at bella port I see a bunch of anacondas etc all hauling hundreds of tons each, but I don't really care, I'm proud of my last paltry 84t shipment on a 9 hop journey through mostly anarchy systems, remembering to fuel scoop on the way and evading interdictions. I'll get my anaconda when I got the buns hun, but until then I'm just happy to be flying.
