I dont go to the movies, they charge to much for the movie and drinks, I have bought a big television screen and wait till I can hire the movie and look at in a comfortable seat without the the screaming of other customers

Jesus christ... how many hours have you played and had fun, and how much did you pay for it? Then compare that to movie tickets...

Yes, same here. It's nice having a capable home theater system. [yesnod] Which, by the way, I also use to play this game on.

Ironically though, my wife, 3 and a half year old daughter, and I are going to see some My Little Pony movie later today. I'm not exactly going for the movie though.

Yeah but you don't know what's to come that you will get. I don't think LEP owners can complain until FD say, that's it, no more ED development.
Providing ED do not pursue a general policy of "no more paid for expansions" there is not really an issue.

The key point will be that non-LEP owners should end up paying AT LEAST as much as LEP owners for the same feature set/functionality over the life of ED.

In the short term, some LEP bonus content (that others could get perhaps after paying some kind of fee) would perhaps allay any concerns some LEP owners may have.

As an LEP owner, I am not YET concerned about potentially being "ripped off"/"robbed blind".

From earlier in this thread:

Then don't express your concerns posing as facts? That allows to avoid misunderstanding :)

I won't convince you and I feel FD won't either. They could say one thing and then after year "sorry". What more assurances you could get at this point?

we don't need to say great job Frontier that we get this all for free, they should have this delivered the first time and on time,
Frontier is a business and they are good at it, the KS they did with their vision they have pointed out a roadmap for this game and promised us every year a expansion working towards their vision,,
but instead they delivered us Horizons with a lot we did not like and wat was not in the pointed out roadmap and vision, the game is stagnate now for 3 years.
when I look at the pc hardware they could have delivered us ammonia worlds and water worlds in Horizon

As LEP owner I don't ask for refund, but I want to have clarity of the future beyond beyond, and in easy wording and not in words that I need to hire a lawyer to explain to me wat they mean with their ambigious talks and do like Im donkey walking after a carrot.

Interesting thread.

I would trade some of my LEP value for a few more Storage and Mat/Data slots.
I'm a collector of ships (HOW many is 'A LOT', any way?) and take pride in my fleet.
The addition of new AX weaponry has forced me to buy even more 'storage ships' .. more than I like.
Whatever the difference between 'hoarding' and 'collecting' is, I seem to have saturated that element of the title.
Having 100 Storage, 2000 mat storage and 60+ ships may seem like overkill, but to me, it's more like being ready for anything.

As an L-e-p-er, I am certainly that.

Continue to fly safe, Cmdrs and .... ... .. BLEEP BLEEP BLEEP !! ALERT ALERT! HOSTILE ENTITY HAS ENTERED THE BUBBLE!
STATION STORAGE COMPROMISED! THARGOIDS ARE ATTACKING DOCKED SHIPS!
THOUSANDS DEAD! bleeep bleep BLEEP BEPP BL. B... B... (silence)

I can understand their grievance.

Paying triple digits for a lifetime expansion pack, to find out that you could have got the same for a lot less due to the Seller changing their policy regarding pricing, is going to leave a lot of people concerned and feeling a little out of pocket to say the least.

Agreed. And at the same time the content delivered in the Horizons season so far had been underwhelming and delayed, so from the point of view of regular season pass buyers this is a nice 'We're sorry'-gesture by FD.

Yep, and that's an appropriate argument to make.

What isn't is the usual "LOL, you're not a true fan" "Salty" "Moaning" "I've spent more money than you and I'm happy" type responses that are circling here and on other social media outlets regarding this situation to try to shut down any one with an issue.

Do you get upset when games you bought for full price go on sale and demand a refund?

That's not quite the same thing. LEP was sold as if $60 season expansions were going to be annual. if you only bought the Horizons season early, you don't have anything to complain about.

All that said, if LEP had lived up to expectations ED would have 3 separate builds now. I don't think that would have worked out well for the community.

LEP purchaser here. Not worried yet. A free 2nd commander would make me feel even better though :)

That or something. Some store credit maybe? LEP owners get beta access. I think FD would do well to sweeten the pot for LEP purchasers. FD changed their mind about how LEP works. I wish LEP buyers could do the same.

It might be a bit off topic but did the LEP owners get free ships and access to Cobra mkIV in their package or was it only for Backer/Premium Beta owners?

I bought the £35 expansion pass.

I'd love for the pace of expansion to be quicker but in the end that is what it is.

I'd certainly hope that next year's focus on core features means that the shape of following year is continuous content delivery, new missions, story etc.

The expansions are then just dropping new environments for core mechanics and content to inhabit.

Horizons would have been better sell as a cheaper planetary landing expansion with the other content being for everyone.

I understand what you mean, but I can see ways around that.

If further expansions are cumulative (ie you have to own all the previous ones to get the latest) it would be fine for the LEP owners but could be frustrating for a non LEP owner to have to buy content they aren't interested in to unlock the content they want.

However if we take these examples of extra content, some can be independent of others:

Spacelegs: you don't need to be able to land on any planets to be able to float around ship-to-ship, or walk in docks & stations.
Non-atmospheric planets (Horizons): this is obviously independant of both spacelegs & atmospheric landings.
atmospheric planets: wouldn't require spacelegs but logically would require Horizons ie it wouldn't make sense for a ship to be capable of landing in an atmosphere & flying in space, but not landing in a vacuum.

The way Horizons has added content like multi-crew, SLFs & the Beluga (all horizons season content, but not dependant on planet landing) doesn't suggest to me that FDev have an independent, branched plan in mind though, it suggests a cumulative approach.

So either ultimately the LEP turns out to be a good buying decision & the non-LEP players become frustrated (the opposite of the current situation), or there will be minimal extra paid, cumulative content in future, leaving the LEP owners feeling like suckers.

I hope for independent expansions, where the LEP owner just gets it all, and non LEP players can pick & choose, but as you point out, it would be a more challenging path for FDev to follow.

LEP was a leap of faith - the same way as other game pre-orders or kickstarters. People have bought something that wasn't realized yet.

I think FDEV delivered as LEP owners did get ALL expansions free, even if ALL was only one expansion so far.
