I haven't been able to find the duplicate Alcatraz-class at Merope 3 - possibly it's been removed?
I've found another "Aquarius Class Tanker ALF-895", destroyed, at HIP 17225 A 2. No idea what is going on here. I will check whether the other one is still there at HIP 17962.

So how do you find these things - just by randomly happening upon them?
I'm really confused, I assumed back from Frontier announced new stations etc. that they would be placed around habitable space, not really rare so that only a fraction of players actually get to see them. Seems like a weird waste of assets? Why are asteroid bases etc. so rare?

There are sometimes mentions of or hints to their location in Galnet, and some sites can lead to others. Additionally things are often found near obvious POI, asteroid bases tends to be in prominent nebulae for instance.

I'm not sure whether this will be a permanent POI, I suspect it won't, but I found this scene of carnage behind a Distress Call in HR 1185 A 1.

A little something for our OP, I garnered a picture of the Jack's Town asteroid base in Felkan.
Oh and sidenote, there's a weird repeated line in the asteroid-bases section, between Moore's charm and Mammon monitoring.

*nods* I know it's permanently in place - I should have said rather, whether the Empire will sooner or later get round to cleaning up the wreckage, and the POI will no longer be there.

Just been to 17962 and it seems to have vanished. Looks like the destroyed megaships jump more than the intact ones
