You raise a good point actually. If the fleet is ever under attack from Klaxons while fleeing the bubble, it would be nice to have some combat ships near by. So perhaps the Carrier ship could literally carry ships with it as it makes largish 1KLY jumps?

I probably wouldn't bring an FDL on such a trip (not enough internal compartments). Maybe a Corvette or one of the newer ships (if any of them have decent jump range).

Anyone know offhand if there is likely to be a Squadron size limit? Would be interesting to see if we have one main fleet with a carrier or several.

I'll keep an ear to the ground for what work may need to be done to secure these craft for our use, etc.

I move that all original DWE CMDR's keep their #'s (and those not able to attend will have their numbers reserved as mark of respect!). I don't know any CMDR that wasn't proud of their number in the DWE fleet.
