Distant Worlds II - Early Announcement

I'm in on this.

I must admit the first DWE burnt me out on exploring. It probably didn't help that before I left Beagle Point I'd signed up to do the Crab Nebula Expedition, which left two weeks after I got back to the bubble. It ended up being a lot of exploring!

In fact, I've been pottering about the bubble ever since and only just left for Colonia a bit over a week ago - not quite there yet. I guess I'm just not a hard core explorer.

Anyway, I should be fine for a big expedition a year from now, especially if Frontier come through and add some new exploration mechanics. I'm really hanging out for those improved planet surfaces...

Oddly enough, I'm currently on the last leg of my return to Beagle Point (just entered the Silentium Region). By the time I get back it'll be time to head out there again.

Who needs content eh?

"Content?" Bro, have you not seen this? ↓

If we get that content on this expedition, they're going to have to dry me off with towels and lubricate my joints from being glued and rusted solid on my controller. Just saying. :D

Haha - yeah beige is BANNED!

Hopefully Mengy will scrutinise every pixel of every entry to make sure none slips though.

Back when planets had character, and pilots were crazy ;)

That statement alone will probably wind up being one of the more hilarious and historically significant of the entire expedition :D

I very much liked the idea of the first DW but didn't go since I tough theres no way I can go the travelspeed. Having it made to beagle point this year I can now judge better for DW2, took me about 8 months to get there... mh.... Yeaaaaah, I think I'm just a wee bit too slow for that ^^

Ed's probably going to go into work today, shake his head, and say to Braben "Ohgod! They're at it again!"
And as long as we are in the process of trying to make FDev's life interesting, we may as well try and make it INTERESTING :) How bout we try and break the last record, and get a 300 ship formation going at Sag A* :)

BWAHAHAHA! Oh dear, there are a few! I have a video of my Anaconda boosting into a hovering SRV - and being deflected by the SRV into the ground! I lost 34% hull!!!

Oh dear, DWE actually was quite historic...

-First 50+ player mass jump from Sag A*
-First 100+ Player mass jump from Sag A*
-Warning from FD to please not do that again(!!!)
-1300 CMDR's on a 3+ month trip to the other side of the galaxy
-SRV racing
-Hill climbs
-Exploding ships
-Canyon racing with Anacondas
-SRV Jumponium mining for someone elses Sidey!
-Canyon jumping
-Ed Lewis Buckyballing
-Colours!
-A Doggie!

Heck, Even Salome turned up!

How awesome was it?

Remember the bit where FD warned us to please not do that again? Yeah, just a rumour. I didn't get that memo either...

Which begs the question - why can SLF's be "3d printed" by the hangar, but SRV's can't?

How about this ...

In early 3250 the multi-national Durex corporation succesfully filed an injunction against Print'n'Fly Inc. preventing them from 3D printing any form of rubberized material. Little did they realise that, 53 years later, this would leave that company unable to re-create the tyres necessary for SRV wheels and thereby limit their production to Ship Launch Fighters only.
