Constructive criticism is welcomed on the forum.

Asking for Frontier employees to be fired in not acceptable in any shape or form.

Please remember that in future.

"Beyond" is precisely what is needed for Elite and the next 2 years will hoepfully and finally address the content we've been asking for. OP you say the game is boring and not finished, this "Beyond" addresses that (or watch a ton of people give up entirely on the game). What more is there to say other than this next dev cycle is there to fix the issues you pointed out LOL

Community: WE WANT CORE GAMEPLAY FIXED! WE WANT CORE GAMEPLAY FIXED!
FDEV: Next year, we'll focus on core gameplay fixes.
Community: WE DIDN'T MEAN INSTEAD OF NEW THINGS! WE DIDN'T MEAN INSTEAD OF NEW THINGS!
Would would have thought "The Community" wasn't a singular entity with one coherent opinion on everything.

"Beyond" looks fine to me, my only real interest in what was shown is the planetary textures and the improved lighting model.

If they follow through with what was shown at the Expo no complaints, though a 1 year wait on the lighting fix will be a pain.

I suspect wait will be worth it due of things they will improve but didn't mention yet. Rewrites for graphics engines usually means good things in general, more tools for designers to use for.

Being honest, the first of those is fair. The Community or at least a vast majority agree we want core gameplay fixed. What those core gameplay fixes are (or the priority) varies wildly of course. The second (or the punchline) is far less agreed upon. It was a joke. Some truth to it, but still a joke.

Not disapointed at all. I think FD is making the right move if they want a sustainable long term plan.

Having the profession better fleshed out, wing missions, better player group Tools and generaly better Tools for trade, mining and exploration
is required. Otherwise I can't see how they add in new features without making ED a gimmick pile.

Also OP seems to be assuming that everything FD talked about at the expo is an exhaustive list... They said very clearly that it's not and we can expect more than what they've told us about. I don't think we'll expect more huge huge things, but certainly more going into the core improvements than they've explained.

I'd even dare to hope that the "new phenomena and anomalies" for exploration could include gas giant diving. If not, I'll settle for accretion discs and better stellar stuff.

The feeling I get from beyond is something like "We knew we screwed up in multiple occasions, we'll take one more year to fix it and add something that was long needed", while keeping official promises quantitatively few in order to overdeliver a little bit if everything goes right during development.

I expect some relatively beefy patches in 2018, with lots of QoL.

I feel it'll be the year Elite finally gets out of his tottering beta tech demo status and finally becomes playable and stable enough to be called a game.

If "beyond" is only going to take a year then it's not going to put the meat on the bones. You cannot add new features AND put meat on in a year.

"Disappointing"? Nah, actually positively surprised by what they are planning, especially de-beigefication of planets and new ships. Before the expo I as rather convinced that we wont get pretty much any new stuff.

I am happy with Frontier's proposed ideas for the fleshing out and improvements in 'Beyond'. Now, don't get me wrong the proof is very much going to be in the pudding for me and it could decide whether or not I'm still a commander in 12-18 months time but I am hopeful.

For me Frontier didn't have much of a choice at this stage, the golden goose for developers is new customers and customer retention and for me Frontier has been failing on the latter to a greater or lesser degree. Whilst I'm sure retention isn't Frontier's only motivator with Beyond I'm fairly confident it plays a significant role. QOL and game improvements in terms of missions, profession's and visuals are what many have been crying out for, new content offers retention too of course but in Elite D's case the flesh on the bones is long overdue.

Can they deliver?, yes, will they?, who knows, their track record is, in my opinion, patchy, (excuse the pun), at best but for this commander at least the proposals of Beyond are enough to keep me around for a good while longer.

AspX flying close to my ship, with the sound of diving messerschmidt is not something that should be heard in space and it completely breaks the immersion. Space is silent. Cold. Dead.

Turn your sound off. Problem solved. Doesn't take much effort to find a solution to your 'problem'.
