Hello, Mr Icus.
[...] the staff didn't seem to know how to use their tills sometimes.
I wasn't going to say more about it, but since you raise the point...
I'm in catering. I know exactly what trained, experienced staff look like. A few seemed to know their business, but most moved like they'd never seen a till or held a pair of tongs before. I'm quite certain that whoever's in charge of them has basically no idea what they're doing.
I'm not a lawyer, but everyone in the industry is required to know the many legally-binding rules for any business serving food to the public. These include Scores on the Doors, visible allergen notices and all sorts. It's not enough to be sanitary, you have to have a bunch of notices for the public.
It was a busy day for me, so I confess I may have missed them, but did anyone see those things? None are visible on the livestreams I've looked at. I don't think there are any exceptions for exhibition centres. If they're not following the minimum policies required to pass EHO inspection, then it's only a matter of time before Newham Council jumps up and down on them.
I spent a good chunk of the day playing the original Elite on the BBC Micro which was awesome.
Not to be unkind to you, big man, but
YES, WE NOTICED. I'm very glad you had a good time on it, though. It was and is a Great Game.
Additional suggestion for next year, FD: more original BBC Micros.
