"Beyond" free for Horizon owners - LEP musings

So people keep saying yet no proof of this is put forward.

SC has 300 people so I suppose ED will be 3 times slower now?

Frontier themselves said it, they also showed a video of their office. There also have been a few people from the community visiting them and they confirmed it. You are the one creating myths without proof. Where is your proof that less than 100 people work on it?

What completel and utter nonsense, once again by you, making up stuff. What's been cvonsistent is you complaining about people complaining and making up the reasons for it and posting up stuff you made up that you have no evidence for.

On the other hand, the people "complaining" here have all been consistently asking for more meat to the barebones game. FDev have acknowledged that which makes the "complainers" 100% correct because FDev have seen they need to do what we've been asking for which is why we are now getting "beyond".

This means that those of us who were pointing this out have been vindicated as FDev are now on our side, not yours, the side that says everything is fine. Well FDev disagree which is why they're putting all their resources into adding the content we've been asking for since day one.

Sorry, I lost you at "complaining". Do you have a point?

BTW "my side" doesn't say everything is fine. First, "sides" don't exist. Second, I pointed out what's wrong with the game many times. I just disagree with you on most points.

Sick burn ;)

FYI

Based off of Wikipedia's article on Grand Theft Auto IV (Wiki-Link). It took four years to make the game, beginning production in November 2004, and was released in 2008. The core dev team was around 150 people.

It was 3 and a half years to make and a smaller team than FDev, just to give some perspective.

Apart from FDev actually saying so themselves, showing videos of the staff working there, and members of the playing community going to the offices and seeing them at work. That is proof, where is yours?

Doesn't work like that, and from what I can see in the Evocati builds SC is mess. Also it has a lot to do with management. Maybe ED is a better managed game. From what I can tell in SC, Chris Roberts couldn't project manage a drink up in a brewery.

My Proof is the lack of content thus far. Yours is hearsay.

I'll just quote you, again.

Wrong. It's the same people that have always been complaining. Seriously, check their post history. Most of them are complaining since the removal of offline mode. They don't complain because they are upset about something but just because they hate the game and want it to fail really hard. It's their personal crusade. Because they said "the game is dead if you don't listen to me" so many times, they blame the game for being wrong all the time. It's all pretty ridiculous.

Seems pretty much like your making sides right there. Maybe you don't understand what you're saying?

So now we have an example of Bias. ED has the best managment and hearsay evidence is admissable but we switch to the other side and they're mismanaged and don't know what they're doing with no evidence to back that up in the meantime I just post how 150 people made GTA IV in 3.5 years.

Horizons has been fantastic vfm and will be even moreso next year. When the next paid expansion arrives I wonder if non-LEP holders will remember this thread? Or if they will complain about paying another forty plus quid. Other games companies have taken expansion money / season pass EA, UbiSoft and delivered nothing. FD seem to have got it right.

I was annoyed about everyone calling it a gamble to have the LEP, but reading some of the replies I have changed my mind. I was a bit hasty (and I had a beer) I hope FD deliver in the long term as this game is awesome, I just wish they said more about this in the roadmap. And yes to clarify, I was wrong (a forum first maybe?) o7

Haven't read the whole thread, sorry. But I feel folks are getting into a tiz over nothing.

To block access to stuff, there has to be a logical gate. Horizons v non horizons is easy......horizons removes the no fly zone from non atmospheric planets.
There's no realistic way to gate beige planets from pretty planets, and all the other things so far mentioned.

To me, the logical gates are further body landings (and I would guess these will be split into at least two: gas giants and atmospheric Rocky's, HMCs etc and then Water world's and Earthlikes. Although I suspect ELWs will be separate) and the space legs (and a whole host of new possibilities that that will bring). So that's at least 2 more seasons (atmospheric landings and space legs) and more likely 4 or 5.

The only regret I have in buying LEP was in taking the 10 quid discount rather than just having a whole new 2nd account (imagine a 2nd account for 10 quid!).

From what I've seen, most people aren't actually having a "tiz" and are actually glad that the Beyond content will be included with Horizons.

I agree with your other points for the most part though and share a similar outlook. That being said, I can also understand why some LEP owners would have some concerns, since this isn't how most (any?) of us expected the season/expansion game progression to unfold back in 2015.

Well, this may be somewhat reassuring to some of you. From about an hour ago in another thread...

"Is FD slowly shifting focus away from ED?"

The short answer: No.

The long answer: No, we're not.

Devs leaving the project: People move around and change teams, this is called career development and growth and should be encouraged. We then bring someone in to replace them! This doesn't affect the development process because no single person informs the development of the game completely. I would say David has the most influence but instead of dictating the course and direction of the game he works alongside (in the literal sense of actually foregoing his own office to be sat with them and get involved in ideation and decision-making processes as a team) the designers, animators, programmers, audio teams, etc. I would say that it's actually the opposite feeling overall. Focus is higher on ED. We have ambitions, we have the beginnings of a roadmap, and the dev/design team are holding more meetings and planning sessions than I've seen previously in my two years here. This is something that the community have asked for and to do right by you we're putting extra time into the planning process.

So... no. We're not shifting focus away.

I read that earlier, I don't think it adds anything relevant to this thread or LEP owners. It makes no mention of whether future content will be premium or FOC.

I've PM"d Zac asking for an official response.

Somewhat, still a PR response. They wouldn't come outright and say the contrary. Still nice he took the time to answer though. The bit about more meetings worry me, where I am meetings aren't conductive to productivity (it's a joke by the way).

Beyond isn't 3.0. And 3.0 isn't a thing because we haven't announced or discussed what the model of updates will be beyond Beyond. :)

For the sake of simplicity, let's call the Beyond updates separate from any season model completely. That way we avoid confusion.

This is getting closer to the mark. It allows room for all future updates to be FOC and the LEP owners to simply be offered a partial refund, or to confirm that there will be future premium updates that justify the extra cost of the LEP.

Let's be real here, there won't be partial refunds of LEPs.

Yeah, I saw that too afterward, and thought about posting it here too, but just decided to ask them to comment in this thread instead.

Glad you posted it though.

Well, just that they're continuing to work on the game and not phasing it out or anything, beyond Beyond, not that that seemed very likely anyway.

If we want to be real we should also add that there will be more paid expansion and we can also close this thread.

I would be happy to have that confirmed, as I stated in my previous reply. I would also be happy if all future updates are FOC and the cash difference was refunded.

The decision does not yet need to be made for it to be known what I'd prefer the choices to be.
