The reason I always leave game again

If you find a HOTAS without the throttle, it's not a HOTAS any longer, it's a joystick.

Indeed the T in HOTAS is the clue ;)

(Hands On Throttle And Stick)

That said funny enough I would be looking for similar but opposite. My 2nd x55 throttle is failing (disgraceful design flaw) so could do with just a throttle. I looked at fixing but it's too fiddly for me

So.. the solution seems to be obvious? Buy a hotas?
yup.

True dat.

I didn't like ED until I got one. The Thrustmaster Fligth Hotas 4 is cheap and very reliable. Love it. Takes time to setup a HOTAS though, but after it's done, the game turns to a real experience.

If a hotas isn't your thing due to the complexities of setting it up. Then perhaps you should be playing on a console with a game pad instead? Much easier than a hotas as it's plug and play... But offers much more than just a keyboard and mouse.

Sounds like patience and lots of free time to invest in a game are not something you have.

Elite is not a game for you, it requires huge amounts of patience and time, Maybe come back when you actually have lots of free time?

The training tutorials are too hard.

Is that missing some /sarcasm tags? I'm not being funny, genuinely curious, I remember how the tutorials were a couple years ago (they were hard then for a brand new player, fixed pulse lasers!!), but I heard they got improved at some point, I've not done the new ones. Are they really still too hard (cos they really were, back in the day!), or were you being sarcastic? :)

Making money and or lack thereof was always the main reason I would quit. If there was something cool happening like Ceos Sothis etc they'd kill it and then I'd lose my interest. If you can't make good money whats the point? Combat for example I can fight for an hour and not make 1M in combat bonds. That was fun but it would be more fun if it paid more.

Nothing to discover. I really really enjoyed searching for barnacles and all the other clues at the time where everyone was looking for something. That was fun but the tools they gave us were so poor (eyeballs) that is was so tedious that it finally became too much to bear. Even traveling to the rift was bone jarringly boring... especially when we realized there was literally NOTHING to be found out there.

Once the galaxy is seeded and things ARE a little more common to find and if they are HIGHLY rewarding then maybe I'll stay interested. The good news is that they are planning to do this.

The new ones are easy. I did them at work on my potato PC with a mouse that didn't even have my FA-off toggle bound.

Also, I'd brag if I could back it up, but I'm really not that skillful a pilot.

No they're not hard.
