"Beyond" free for Horizon owners - LEP musings

I can't really see premium content just a couple of special skins or a few ships. Premium content is premium. Sounds like something substantial personally. It will obviously be purchasable for people who don't have the LEP too.

So exclusive gameplay for example is MT too?

I suspect they will try waters out with some smaller paid for content comparing to seasons. Q4 I suspect will be first try out for that.

Yeah, I have it to and backed to Founder level (£150) but I will be honest, I paid to get the game made; that was my biggest concern (and would have paid a whole lot more if my wife hadn't stopped me). I don't feel as if I have been misled, I'm here for the long haul as is ED. The pay off period may be longer but I am confident it is a journey to be enjoyed.

I don't think they will ever do LEP again, just because it causes such threads like this to exist. FD seems to want find their own way to deliver content, and while LEP sale does not forbid that, there's still some thousand people asking on regular basis when next update will come.

As a non-LEP person, I hope this premium content doesn't constitute "pay to win". That would not be a good path to start down IMHO.

Also, I do hope you will return to the paid season model in 2019.

The LEP entitles those buyers to any paid content (not cosmetics) that's released between now and whenever the ED river runs out. Yes, they've been a bit short-changed in the Horizons season as it's gone on longer than anyone expected. But FD have now confirmed that there's plenty to come that they'll get for free, and there may even be some stuff for LEP owners that isn't available to the rest of us - and I say jolly good too. It won't be anything that can possibly constitute 'pay to win', but if it's cosmetics or ship variations that identify but don't advantage them, so what? I think it's a great idea.

What exactly would be "pay to win" and how it is even related?

Also FD won't return to season model, and we know it already. There will be paid for expansions but in what form and how they will be delivered FD clearly haven't figured out yet (as Dale pointed it out).

Hopefully they'll never go back to the season model, and go for full fledged expansions, or at least "mini" expansions instead (which some could consider pay2win of sorts)

Engineers is a big perk and so its pay to win. I'd expect the same for Beyond. I do not have a problem with this, its a good game business model.
