PSA: Not sure if anyone spotted this but a dev has confirmed there will be paid content as well as the free stuff...

Single use 100ly booster pack - only £1.99!
Bumper set of materials - £1.99
Modular Terminal booster pack - £2.99
One-Time Use Engineer Upgrade Voucher - £4.99
Thargoid Loot Box Key - 5 pack - £3.99

Don't do it FD

As far as I read into that that, it will be cosmetic items only. Any ship enhancements or any paid items that give advantage over other players should not be included. To do so. would make the game a pay to win and unfair to those who do not buy.

Totally agree.. However I would also definitely pay real money to have my own minor faction added to the game.. I know they actually offer this for free but for most people like me I bet after submitting the request it never actually happened. Purchasing anything that would give a player an advantage is totally not on though as I'm riding in 3rd class!

wow, Dutch I completely agree with you. I am happy to see cosmetic purchases in this pay to play game; however, If we saw credit purchases or special Modules that gave spending players advantages in ED it would really spoil the game for me. Perhaps non-combat beneficials would not be bad. Like a 100ly FSD... ;)
Fly Safe o7

No, no 100ly fsd, nothing.
Once a dev treads the dark path of payed non cosmetic items there's only one way they'll follow and that is downwards.
Same goes for booster packs, single use improvements, etc.

Once FD decides to implement payed non cosmetic items then I'm out, definitely!

I spend quite some euros on paints, shipkits, etc. but I'd never spend a dime on non cosmetic stuff.
No more WoT situations for me ever again.

So you won't pay for expansion type material?

I don't get the point of this thread...

How is the premium stuff Sandro is referring to any different from lets say Horizons? Something you had to pay for as well...no?

How someone was able to find a bridge to engineer vouchers for $1.99 is beyond me.

Because its headline and because they keep calling it a "road map" its no more a roadmap than I am the moon. They were very specific in saying they would be releasing a roadmap, they deffo didn't say "we will be releasing a graphic with some meaningless dots on it"
Agreed, as well the recaps are null of even generalizations, just more "stuff is coming, you'll be amazed!"

It always seemed extremely likely that 'Beyond' would contain purchasable premium content, which would be free to LEP owners.

Given the cost of the (second offering) of the LEP, to ignore these players would have seemed pretty rude, so Zac's announcement seems perfectly reasonable, and I very much doubt that the content will be purely visuals.

FDev have shown they can comfortably segment the base and premium players, so I'd expect some ships at the very least to be gated by a purchase - be it already made, or now required - and it wouldn't entirely surprise me if access to subsequent tranches of paid-for expansion were further gated by having to buy the previous package. E.g. you must own 'Horizons' to buy 'Beyond'.

For those for whom the sky is falling in, please remember that without buying Horizon's you cannot access engineers, and so already cannot get some very real in-game benefits. Call it pay-to-win if you like.

The only minor clanger that FDev seems to have dropped to me, is in not properly announcing that 'Beyond' still works in the same way as 'Horizons', with some base improvements and new toys for all, and other, extra, new toys for those who buy-in.

So, absolutely no change to where we are today.

In all seriousness though its not an excuse, many people don't have time or the inclination to listen to 4 chaps sat on a stage patting each other on the back. I've never been to a seminar or CPD event (and believe me I've been to many, sadly)that hasn't had a compete break down of the presentation available to interested parties in detailed chart or summary sheet. At the end of the day their road map is just 4 dots with no information on it at all, its a COMPLETE waste of what little effort that went in to producing it.

It was not more effort than this post, which happens to be a waste of time as well. ;)

Mate i'm not LEP holder, missed by about a month or 2.

I'm just confused about the whole 'premium content' and free stuff.. Actually, I think I'll just wait and see :)

I might rage-quit for 5 minutes in protest about something.. Not sure what yet :D

The reason you are confused is because you spend to much time thinking about it ;)

Because, they are Frontier. :)

The name plates, are not.

They never said there will be free nameplates but they always said there will be paid cosmetics.

Would purchasable modules be ‘premium content’? I think not.

Surely it’s gonna be something a lot more meaty than that?
