So, as you all know I have been concentrating mainly on vulcanism since it came out, apart from a couple of finds in the Rosetta Nebula I haven't really looked much for biology. Having found quite a few volcanic sites, and after my planetary surveys which I think revealed some interesting information in vulcanism I decided to do a bit more biology, naturally the first system I arrived at in my search, Col 173 Sector EJ-E c13-3, had twelve braintree sites!

Now braintree sites are well represented in our database, I will add these when I get a chance, six on one body seems to be somewhat of a record at the moment, so I may travel further afield to try and find the as yet undiscovered new species, the problem as I see it is we don't currently have any on information on environment, location etc. The fungal cones seem to mainly appear in nebula, but apparently in canyons and depressions, braintrees seem related to guardian ruins, but only ever appear, thus far, in splash craters, a new species may have completely unrelated criteria for searching. Oh well, I am heading towards a site some 5kly in towards Colonia, I will check likely sites on the way, have fun all!

Good luck. I want those missing organics found you hear! Haha. every once in a while I get this need to try and hunt them down then after a few hours I realized just how little I have to go on and I start to get burnt out. Sometimes I just spend time looking at the galaxy map and thinking of a sweet spot they'd hide these guys.

After winning our TWH CG I needed a break, so went and found new trees:
Synuefe PJ-D b46-10 3 63.4538 // 93.4521

Rocky Ice body, only 376 ly from Sol, closest I found so far :)
https://i.imgur.com/PsmxFL5.jpg

That's a very nice find, I wonder how much closer to Sol these Brain Trees will get.

Let me know if you spot Brain Trees on a Metal Rich world, I don't think they've been found on that type of body.

I think this is close to bordeline of trees. No doubt we can find some closer to Sol but not by big margin.
ATM I stopped looking for them, just finished TV Muscae and I will do something else for a change, finding trees with Spansh's tool is too easy :)

New fungal "brain" tree field at Skaudai JP-A C29-5 3 A / 51.6873, 78.0507

The Skaudai nebula is 12000 ly from the existing proposed Guardian bubble.

Congrats. The way it works, if there are Ancient Ruins in the area, there will be Brain Trees, and there are ruins in SKAUDAI AM-B D14-138.
Actually finding Brain Trees can work as an detector that there will be Ruins in the area, so going new places I always check some ejecta craters just in case. Finding Brain Trees is much easier than finding Ruins :)

Some changes I've noted....not sure when they happened but let me know if you've noticed these as well:

1. Geyser and Fumarole sites no longer spawn above the height map and then respawn on the ground but, instead, spawn properly the first time.

2. Geysers and Fumaroles can now cause heat damage to ships, as well as boost ships in the air when they go over them.....I usually flew the bigger ships so this could have been in a long time ago but the geysers just weren't strong enough to effect such a big ship, however my adder gets a nice little shove in the air when I hover over one, as well as some minor heat damges, this doesn't last long though as the spout is too strong to keep me close enough for the heat to build up properly.

So far those are the only two changes I noticed, however it makes me wonder if other changes have gone through on similar sites as well as organic ones....I've heard the braintrees look to have had a minor graphic update, and perhaps the shrinking POI's, if they aren't supposed to be that way are fixed.

and perhaps the shrinking POI's, if they aren't supposed to be that way are fixed.

A big nope to that one, they are still shrinking, in fact there are now shrinking and expanding POI's, the latter indicating a crashed ship usually, as well as the mid sized non-size changing POI that indicate a mining installation. I am wondering, is this perhaps a method if differentiating POI content that they are introducing with telling us?

Has anyone tested if the instancing bug is still present?

What i mean is, when two or more cmdrs are at the geysir location, they see different geysirs as active at the same time.
Like here:

Thats really annoying and breaking mah immersuun. :(

Much worse one was CTD on Brain Trees location on wing or multicrew attempt. Will check it on next occasion, forgot last time to do so.

Wish I'd known about that one.

MadRaptor and I tried to meet at a Brain Tree site before 2.4 dropped. I was in the instance first and he kept getting CTD. Then I logged out and let him log in first...and then it was me that was getting CTD. Let's hope it has been fixed!

It'd be nice to find out. And nice if it is the case as it's a small step in a good direction

Right, man that was a pain in the. I need to get a couple of the pictures we got up on this thread though. Haha, I wonder if that has been fixed yet.
