I did it! I built a 36.59LY CUTTER! :D

Wow thank you all for the positive energy, kind words and good advice and recommendations. I'd like to reply to everyone, but instead I've repped you all :D

I realize that some of my build may seem strange. Like the Heat-sinks. I know these can now be synthesized, but some of the materials are not mineable on planetary surfaces making the prospect of synthesis unlikely once out in the black. So instead I opted to just bank as many of them as I could.

Some of you sound like you really got some amazing rolls! I'm envious :)
I spent about 30 rolls in total on the FSD, and fewer on the other modules just due to lack of patience, lol. As well I only have about 5 or 6 Engineers unlocked so there are some things I can't get at like lightweight Life Support.

I suppose I could technically step down on shields and thrusters... but I'm paranoid by nature and I want to be able to run from Thargoids and not die if I attempt a High-G landing :p

It's certainly not a min-max build and anyone who can boast a 40LY Cutter is a god amongst us :) Well done to the perseverance it takes with those blasted Engineers. Truly a love hate relationship with them.

This is the best screenie I can find for a foreseeable future. This is a cargo build, so, slightly bigger power plant for some added shield boosters and a bit extra distributor. Not sure about the thruster, but I think it's a 7D explorer thruster I made for my Beagle Point Beluga, for weight saving. 40.55LY on fumes and 27.07LY with 728 tons on board isn't too shabby either, I think. :)

That doesn't mean there isn't a cutter out there with a better range, just that nobody has submitted one.

It's also possible that there were submissions that were never added to the list. I don't think anything I posted in the thread was ever added, for example.

EDIT: To be fair, I might not have used the template. I don't remember now. :) I'm sure others have made that mistake as well though.

Your jump range appears to be a record for the Cutter.
Checking the thread https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/261356-Post-your-Jump-Range
The highest jump range recorded for a Cutter is 33.69 / 22.78. Number 153 in the list.

Very cool to hear this :)
But I don't mind being outdone by those with more patience and engineering materials then me, hehehe... they will have earned that high number at that point.

Just by messing about in outfitting and also in Coriolis It seems that I can further optimize with the modules & Engineers I have and it would likely net me an additional LY of range. But as I said... I tend to be a bit of the paranoid type and a little extra boost and shields make me feel slightly safer out there in the black... though perhaps it might be artificial sense of security :D

CMDR Duck, this has to be the record!!!
I've yet to see proof of anything higher.

I cannot rep you anymore so please accept this salute in honor of your achievement :D

edit: Oh! it appears I was able to rep you as well!!! Hahaha! Well deserved!

OP, I truly enjoy the topic.... Not long ago, I created another topic about the Cutter, called Ultra Light Weight Combat Cutter... and I basically discovered what you have. This ship is amazing, as it is extremely versatile.

My combat build: https://coriolis.edcd.io/outfit/imp...AAA=.EwegLCAMIIwgbBaBTAhgcwDbJLS+g===&bn=Raza

Currently, I'm doing the in the bubble exploring, following all ELW... and it is easy to do... I have been interdicted a few times by Goids, no issues with this build...

When I went to SAG-A, I have a 28LY Anaconda, back in the day... without all the internals this bad boy has....

Enjoy your trip, I look forward to the pictures...

Thanks CMDR!
Just checked your build... What a BEAST! Very nice! Especially with those pack hound missiles. I'd love to get some of them :)

I would if I could. I'm currently halfway across the galaxy in a Conda.
That build is the lightest possible I could get working with boost capabilities. A 7D dirty drive, a 4D engine focused PDU, a low power 6D shield and a single vehicle bay. Plus the scanners and almost two jumps worth of fuel.
I did spend way over 100 rolls on the FSD, probably close to 200, to get that 57% boost. I primarily made it for the Beluga as I decided to take that ship to Beagle Point last year.

While it is somewhat weak, you can definetley get it up higher with a 3D shield. You could also probably downgrade the engine to a class 6 one. There is no point in reducing fuel tank size as you can deplete it anyway, bringing anything less than the maximum capacity is just setting yourself up for major annoyance.

I'm closing in on 100,000 jumps. In my case, there's been nearly 100,000 reasons to minimize the fuel tank. Keeping a low maximum size on it helps prevent you from scooping too much fuel from stars bigger than G class.
Also, I don't think anyone's been able to get anything smaller than a size 5 shield on the Cutter. That part requires some "reverse engineering" on a different ship, as the default size 5 shields doesn't fit on the Cutter. That trick is more useful for cargo Cutters, though, as you'll have to use a reinforcement mod on a 5A shield, making it heavier than a 6D shield (Maybe you can do this with a 5D shield too. I honestly haven't tested. That would technically save 8 tons.)

Not really, reducing the tank size allows for longer jumps in a plotted route.
