20 quid to start the game without horizons is fair,
You can easily play more than 50+ hours before you need engineers or land on planets
If you really like the game after that, well you can buy horizons
Does not sound like a trap to me, horizons is not mandatory when you start to play
I agree here - Considering that even with Horizons, 99% of your time is doing the exact same thing in space everybody else is.
You can still haul all the cargo, as space stations take cargo.
You can still kill all the pirates, as these encounters occur in space.
You can still wing with your friends.
You can even still go exploring, as you might never even leave supercruise. supercruise. Low-level jumponium is available in rings.
You can even still PVP, but that is not recommended as you will be at a disadvantage. But PVP is the dark side anyway, so…
At any rate, the only thing that hampers you by not having Horizons is the lack of Engineers, and that is only a big deal when it comes to PVP and ultra-long-distance exploration. But there is plenty to do without, especially if you go into it with the mindset that you're only paying half the price in order to decide whether you like it enough to plunk down the extra 20. If you decide you like it, it's worth the extra money later. If you hate it…well, I've spent 20 on more games that I don't play than I'd like to admit.
