Double Elite in a Sidewinder

Ah another Sidey pilot great stuff :)

Just wish I had enough time to dedicate to the cause but real life things take up loads of my time these days and I will be lucky to get a few hours a week.

You're best bet is compromised NAV beacons. They're mostly small ships with high ranks.

Still, sidey wont have the firepower to kill one high-ranked ship per minute. In this case hi-res with cop assistence might be faster. Would love to see a 15min or so vid from the OP!

I did most of the fighting in high RESs in Brani, Aphra, Freng, Kremainn and Asellus Primus. It would have been much safer if I did more engineering before I started the combat grind. Speed is what you need. I made the mistake of using the materials/data I had to upgrade the standard thrusters, to grade 3 dirty drives, but I got more speed with standard enhanced thrusters. The other mods I had were some low level ones for the PP and PD to be able to boost more often. Obviously, I got a level 5 FSD for the exploration. I was using standard 2C shields , which were too weak to withstand the constant ramming and scanning.

Thanks for the trade rank suggestions.

BTW, the combat is not that difficult in the Sidewinder. I was exploring how the game mechanics work. It seems that the NPCs are programmed to shoot the highest risk ship, so as long as somebody else is shooting them, they dont shoot back at you. The trick therefore, is not to upgrade the basic pulse lasers. It's different with the SLFs. The moment you open fire on the mother ship, the SLF will be shooting you from behind. Typically, your shields will be down in three seconds and your hull not long after, so I gues that they're programmed to shoot either the lowest risk or any commander.

Folks, this is how you blaze your own trail and git gud all at the same time. Respect.

Don't want to be in your shoes for the trading, though.

Boy really. Even if I had the time I hate the Sidewinder. Smallest ship I would try that in is a Cobra Mk III.
Still, congratulations!

Haz Res in a Sidewinder is good fun. As you say, don't be the first to shoot them and they'll leave you free to carry out strafing runs with your 'twin brownings'. It's very Battle of Britain :)

Can you get a passenger cabin in a Sidewinder for trade rank?

I don't suppose there's a big enough slot for a passenger cabin - that'd be quicker than trading.
Rares would be an option to mix things up.

You can have two Size 2 eco' cabins, allowing for a total of four passengers.

you crazy!!! ...but I think you already knew that. :)

Now I'm thinking about how to get the trading Elite with only 5T cargo capacity.
Can't you get more capacity? I would think you could have 8T.
Anyway, what about rares trading. Wouldn't that would give you the most bang for the buck? Though with the distances you'd have to go maybe not. Not sure there is a good way :(

Go for a Size 1 shield and you can have a whopping ten.

With ten coincidentally also being an approximation of your shield strength.

That said, it's not a criticism. I'd be tempted to mod to hell and back and go shieldless.

You do lose 20mj, down from 68 to 48, but it's a Sidewinder... You're not exactly going to keep your shields up long under sustained fire anyway.
