Mining can be quite fun (in a relaxing, 'gone fishing' kind of way) provided you don't have to do it.

One of the reasons that I reacted quite so badly to the usual trolling by the "git gud" denizens is that I don't do exploits.

Whoah there tiger. I hadn't even commented until you dropped this lulzbomb despite having seen the thread on the day that you posted it but sorry, this is too much. People pointing out that you lost your credits because:
1) You sold a ship without realising that there was a 10% cost to do so and
2) because you sold it with all of your A-spec modules still equipped
has nothing to do with any 'git gud' nonsense. Nobody was decrying your skillz or lack thereof, they merely pointed out that it's not actually unreasonable to expect someone who has played the game since beta, or for long enough to gain access to Founders via an Elite rank, to be aware of basic mechanics like this that have been in place since the start. That goes double when the game shows you how much you are going to receive for selling something and you (presumably) know how much you paid for it
Now quick, get me on your ignore list before your echo chamber breaks.
