Why do you play Elite?

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Git.... :p

But to expand on my previous post.

Apart from my love of the earlier games and this game, I've always had a fascination with Space and Space travel.

I've always wanted to experience the sensation of zeroG (without the aid of alcohol and not paying attention at the top of the stairs leaving a pub/club.)

The Moon landings are something I regret not being around to witness and hope and pray we eventually put a huge effort in to a manned Mars mission one day, I am lucky enough to own a Omega Speedmaster Moonwatch which I adore and appreciate the role it's played in history.

Oh and Agony..... Double Git :p :p

Agree. I love playing Elite because it does a remarkable job of scratching that 'space pilot/explorer' itch. I've alwasy gravitated towards space in my sci-fi, be it books or television or movies or games. This game with my x52 and TrackIR and VoiceAttack is just epic. :) Really makes me feel like I'm out there...

Because i was born to late and i was born to early to be an explorer. So simulation will have to do.

I dreamed of an online, open world space game that puts me in charge of my own ship and destiny for most of my life. Its taken a long time but finally the technology has caught up with my fantasies.

Once the world can provide me with a robot girlfriend... my life will be.... complete.

too or to?

For me it's just how immersive the game is. I thinks it the best space sim type game available right now. I'm super hyped for the upcoming updates especially the new planet shaders and exploration tweaks in general. I think the main structure of the game is already very good and just needs a bunch of tweaking to balance it all out.

EIite games were always at the top of my "best game ever" list. So nostalgia, mostly. Plus, I love sci-fi.

Because of the sandwich dispenser in the galley 2 decks down on of my conda. I can't use it now, but one day I will finally get to those tasty sandwiches....

I've always wanted a space game I could really get into, one that made me feel small and had a lot of different things to learn.

This game isn't quite where I'd ideally want it, there's a lot of features it could have and does not, but it's the closest I've come to seeing the game I really want out there.

Science model as presented by the stellar forge? Lore? Nostalgia?

Myself? Ships. The thing that draws me to sci-fi is the ships. I actually ignore sci-fi that doesn't feature ships. Why I struggle with Doctor Who.

I love the ships. They make a universe for me, and it won't surprise you to hear that not only is the Cobra Mk III my favourite ship in the game... But my favourite fantasy vehicle period.

Flying space ships is fun. Flight models are glorious. Rest of the game is pretty good too ;)

That would be my positive take, roaming the ship. on a 400000ls trip? lock destination, head for the galley, incoming warning, rush from whatever you're doing back to the helm to take the controls, engine problems, get to the designated panel, do repairs.

Everything I've mentioned above would turn this game from a wide shallow ocean to something with a bit more depth, in my opinion.

Yeah but can you see that happening? I can't. I dunno how you feel, but I can't.

(is that how you say can't? It looks weird lol)

Why do I play?

Elite was the inspiration behind my career. Now my favourite job is exploration of the galaxy looking for the unusual and I'm never disappointed by what I find.

I couldn't say, space legs is something that should have been incorporated into the base engine, as it stands, it's going to require a lot of re-coding, but I do not know what FDev have hidden away in their development draw.

What does that mean? They already have build a FPS using the Cobra engine. As they mentioned, the 'walking' part isn't the issue. The gameplay is.
