since this is where we come to make threads to blame FDev about our mistakes

I took a salvage mission and ran into the can and destroyed it.

I had to abandon the mission, which messed up my BGS plans and it totally threw off my feelings of progression and game balance. Cans shouldn't work that way. It's just bad game design.

This bad gaming experience totally ruined my immersion.

I've done this so many times.

The cargo containers should know better. Clearly FDs fault.

Try running over a can of baked beans in your car, that's how cans work, you hit them, they break. Now just consider you were running at multiple kilometres per second when you rammed the can, can ramming at those speeds is inadvisable.

You made a piloting mistake and somehow that is FD's fault?
Are you serious?

This is what the game is about!
You fly a spaceship and should own up to your own mistakes.

The game is already too lenient as it is.
As others have said the mission USS will simply spawn again.
When I made the same mistake as you and destroyed the black box I was supposed to pick up, I was disappointed when I discovered that it simply spawned again.

If it were up to me this respawning should be removed from the game to make it harder, in case of what should be unique mission objectives.
So if they want you to recover a unique black box then those should only spawn once. If you mess up, you fail the mission.
If the mission is to get a few tonnes of not unique goods, then I would be ok with respawning mission USS.

These sort of things wouldn't happen if FD would just employ staff to play the game for us. I feel your pain.

:)

:D

[Tips for newbs: Go back into Supercruise and search for the Mission Objective USS again. It will pop up eventually with the original number of mission relevant objectives back in place.

The same goes with Assassination targets that fled by high waking.]

No, it's real thing.

Yes OP, you are right! Cargo canister behavior isn´t what it should to be lately. Also my immersion is ruined because space is too big, the planets are too old and not flat. Earth is not the center of the universe and they didn´t even list subterran reptile lifeforms as Earths main population... Do the SCIENCE FDev!

And now back to playing the game. Because it rocks :)

Agreed. Not that I haven't used the respawn mechanic once or twice when a bit of tired piloting has resulted in a destroyed canister, but I'd much prefer it if the game responded in a more appropriate way. At the very least there should be a reputation loss and massively reduced payout -- if any -- for not being more careful.

I'd even go so far as to give the player a small bounty with the originating faction and send bounty hunters after them, although that does open up another of Elite's many narrative holes: if the faction knows you destroyed their goods, why didn't they send the guy who was monitoring your activities to do the mission in the first place? ;)

FWIW I too suspect the OP was engaging in a bit of dry humour.

Wow, people are really taking the OP at face value, despite the thread title.

OP - what is the point of this? Please, enlighten us.

Honestly i didn´t know that the mission respawns... when i did something like the OP, i let the mission run out and payed the fine. I wasnt even thinking of a second chance and i wouldn´t have taken it either. Because THAT is immersion breaking.

I also like your suggestion of getting a bunch of bounty hunters on your back, for messing up the deal with that crime syndicate. Paying a fine to the honest contractors is fine as it is.

This game really needs consequence to make your personal narrative worth telling it.

I am not the OP, but humor?
