Taking the plunge for a Space Cow (T-9)

I really love your shieldless idea btw.
I used to run shieldless on my T-9, but a bad experience changed my mind on that. The thing you have to remember is that your FSD upgrade lowers the integrity of your drive. I was interdicted by a python and he knocked out my drive instantly. Thank god for reboot.

So, if you still want to do without a shield, at least consider some reinforcement.

My current T-9 build is 500 T of cargo. The only module I have is a 5A prismatic shield, with grade 5 reinforcement, plus two boosters, heavy duty and resistance augmented. Everything else is as lightweight as possible (including the thrusters, I'm not trying to outrun anyone). I get about 20ly jump range, which I think is quite respectable.

I've been interdicted again by pythons and I high-waked, but the shield held.

Yeah, I did Military Composite (grade 5 engineered) and Class 4 module and hull re-inforcement (also grade 5 engineered). At one point an NPC Python and NPC FDL teamed up on me and had me wake locked. I took lots of hits but managed to get away. Damage was 90k credits.

I don't actually think it's possible to lose an interdiction in this game anymore. At least against NPC's, tbh I'm happy the way it is now, interdiction difficulty has been swinging back and forth since release, either impossible to evade or ridiculously easy.

A lot of it depends on your loadout. With an A-rated ship, it's hard to lose an interdiction, but in other situations, it can be a real effort to win.

FWIW, I'd stick some small shields on a T9, simply to protect it against trivial damage if nothing else.

Flying my T9 in CGs, shieldless, I often find that the DC will manage to to quite a bit of expensive damage while flying it through the mailslot and landing it on the pad.
It doesn't seem like a lot, in isolation, but when you're paying Cr15k here and there for repairs and advanced maintenance, it soon accumulates if you're spending a lot of time in the ship.

I just love the look of the T-9, including the amazing cockpit it has.

Sure, the Cutter has more cargo capacity, but I don't want to do the grind for it. (It would be an interesting to figure out if it would be faster to make Elite in Trading with a Type-9, or if the increased capacity of the Cutter would make up for the time spent grinding rank for it.)
