ASP Explorer vs Anaconda

It all comes down to what the individual pilot wants of course.
The purpose of this thread was to compare the two ships for the purpose of exploration. For that reason, it's (or was) an exploration related discussion.

I don't think we're off track or going around in circles. People aren't trying to convince others that they are wrong for choosing one over the other.
The point is to list the pros and cons and let people decide for themselves.
The trouble is that some people are mistaken about one or more aspect of the ships in question, which makes others want to clear up the misunderstanding.

I know this subject has been discussed to death by veteran pilots here, but generally people are friendly here and just trying to help.

I am a relatively new player. I have an ASP X and a Conda. My opinion is I have to have both. It is not a this ship versus that ship issue for me. I will explore with both.

Of course it always comes back to "You can explore in any ship, so fly what you enjoy the most.", but I think these discussions are still useful for newbie explorers, so that they can plan accordingly. Some people will grind toward buying an Anaconda just because they think that it must be the ultimate ship, since it's so much bigger and more expensive. But as many have pointed out, they'll fly a DBX or AspX (or something else entirely) just because they really don't like the handling or the cockpit view of the Anaconda. It took me a long time to warm up to my Anaconda, so I'm flying it now, but I totally get why people prefer other things. The Anaconda's negatives are pretty significant for some players, myself included, so I'm still holding out some hope that we'll get something new that mitigates those while splitting the difference in capabilities between it and the AspX. I just hope Fdev is listening. :) ;)

My anaconda does over 60ly (53 or so with an extra fuel tank) with shields, SRVs, and can still boost.

I modded everything I could for lightweight/heat efficiency. Heavy duty armor mod for extra integrity without adding weight.

The supercruise handling is pretty , but you get used to it.

My AspX does like 46 LY. The shorter your jump range, the longer your voyage takes - but the more systems you scan to make money.

The AspX is a hell of a lot cheaper than the Anaconda as well.
