Why do Developers dont give a single notice or interaction on PvP Subforum?

OK, Fair enough... But one "we will look on it" or "we will discuss about it internally" would implement much more satisfaction on it...

Ahh, but see, then everyone would whine and moan because "Dev X said this a week ago and we haven't heard back", or some special snowflake would take a Dev comment of '"We'll look into it" as a promise that it will be fixed immediately (or at all) and start a tirade on the forums because reasons.

They're damned if they do and damned if they don't. Given the way they're generally trashed on the forums as being idiots, numpties, incompetents, etc... I'm not at all surprised that they don't post more. Who in their right minds wants the abuse?

If you cant take it you shouldnt be in show business ... but BTW... the only issue with devs is the lack on info... and the lack of PvP knowledge... But that's understandable

The PVP sub forum seems to be leaking.

If only they had their own moderator who could shunt threads like this in there as part of his remit.

I mean, I see your point but the game is constantly rebalanced and tuned mostly because of PvP. They aren't ignoring it, that's for sure. Maybe they haven't felt the need to make a "statement of the gods" yet.

2) Yeah, I'll change it after Halloween. :)

Nuuuuuuuuu Vinyl Scratch must stay.

I think its been a good thing for the PvPers and PvEers in general this sub forum. Same as for the exploration sub forum. The trolls are easier to spot in both sub forums, and overall, the tone in the threads have been a lot better. A lot less driveby trolling/flaming going on (easier for mods to spot as well)... oh and Ziggy of course, who often brings some much needed humour to many threads.

On the topic of the devs, well, if the devs want to ignore the PvP stuff, then its easier for them, but then you are boned anyway if they are not interested in PvP. On the flip side, if they are wanting to keep an eye on the PvP threads, this sub forum makes it a lot easier for them to see relevant info.

+Rep. This is an excellent point.

Lol. I changed it early. Vinyl Scratch is here to stay (at least for awhile). :D

Agony Aunt is right about the tone being better in the PvP sub-forum since the move. I read all the threads in there and I think the situation is much improved from what we saw before. IMHO of course.

FDEV aren't going to mingle with the "*legal*exploit & take advantage of 'gray area' game play because it's not against the rules".. crowd :) :)

ok ok I'm kidding... but I do think the PvP aspect of ED has been the area of greatest bones of contention. Tinfoil hat country, not even the devs are safe there!

They like to hang around us fluffy explorer types instead [heart]

I mean seriously the PvP subforum has 40+ posts and even more and NONE has Developer interaction.[mad]

Here's proof.

So is the PvP Sub-forum just a trashcan? to make the dangerous discussion more PvEing?!

Because we are LESS important Consumers than the other part of the forums?

Fdev created the PvP sub-forum so that all PvP and related talk could quietly go to die. I said that within minutes of seeing the new format, and I feel even more strongly now. So on top of 2.4, shall
we say "sucking canal water" to put it delicately, they had to screw up Dangerous Discussion, too. At the same time.

The exploration sub forum seems to be thriving though. Is it an issue of being put into a sub forum or an issue of community?

Same as for the exploration sub forum.

Too bad that exploring isn't a big enough "feature" of Elite to get its own feature sub-forum like PVP.

Maybe one day, once exploration is expanded upon, it will be full fledged enough to be on equal footing with PVP, Engineers, Horizons etc...

:) :)

I just looked at the exploration page for the first time in over a year. I'm not sure I'd call the numbers on that page "thriving" AA. Segregating everybody into these separate niches might be easy from a moderation standpoint, but from mine it has the net result of limiting the conversation because most people aren't going to comb through every individual subsection looking for something worth reading or commenting on.

I may be the odd man out with this opinion, but I like the separate PVP forum.

First it acknowledges that PVP is a major feature of Elite.

Second, the other "features" are conspicuous by their absence. There isn't a PVE Bounty Hunting, Trading, Exploring (although it does have its own sub forum oldly categorized) etc feature sub forums.

I would like to see a sticky with the intention and rules of the subforum.

If it were up to me, bringing up blocking and certain private groups wouldn't be allowed.

A sticky in the subfourm with something along the lines of:

"This forum is dedicated to discussing player vs player combat / interactions, both straight up combat and escaping unwanted attacks using piloting skill and proper ship builds.

If you are not interested in PVP, there are options:

1. Solo Mode
2. Mobius Private Group - <link to mobius info>
3. Blocking Players - <link to stigbob's thread> (and acknowledging blocking kills me a bit on the inside, but it is what it is)

Information about groups and blocking is available elsewhere on the forums, but should not be discussed here."

Well, that's good, no?
People only commenting on things worth commenting on. Mods' dreams-come-true.

Like this post of mine. Time well spent.

I get the argument that segregating things into sub-forums limits visibility. It's true - it does. However, there are benefits. Having a dedicated forum means that the people who are bothered to post there are generally very interested in the subject matter, so you avoid a lot of drive-by flaming/trolling/off-topic. It also has the benefit of corralling similar topics into one area so as to make finding topics of interest easier.

Also I should point out that it wasn't very long ago that the *lack* of a PvP forum was a point of contention from some quarters.

Truly, we cannot please everyone all of the time. :)

Well I for one like the PvP sub-forum. BUT (big BUT) If you move everything PvP related to there it's not that good anymore... I mean. If we want to encourage people to do PvP we should get some slack to put content on the dangerous discussion. I mean, while Discussion about weapons efficacy, tips and tutorials.... but sometimes it's good to lay a PvP Video on the dangerous discussion... Right now anything that have PvP written on it its thrown directly into the PvP Sub forum.. And i dont see it happening to horizon material gathering... or *look at dangerous discussion*

I mean I don't think they are out of place... but each of these also fits into explorer or horizons Subforum...

So while i think there should be some moving... I think some stuff should be retained into the main part of the forum... just like the rest... I mean , if someone ask about fixed or gimbal are best for PvP? that's not good for the main forum...

But if someone want's to have a discussion about a certain game mechanics... like I did... I think i'd like to hear about the bigger game community not only the PvP one like i would want with this thread...
https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showt...-Federation-Bounty-PVP-Bounty-hunting-is-DEAD

I KNOW what PvPers will think about it... because I'm one of them... but the normal guys the PvE guys is what I'm interested in knowing it's opinion... and to be fair this is a very interesting topic to EVERYONE... I mean maybe it's an oversight... maybe it's not... but this is a topic that both sides have something to say about... and i think threads like that should stay in dangerous discussion...

BUT THAT IS MY OPINION

What kind of interaction with the devs are you hoping for?

It would be a bit odd for the PvP subforum of all places to be turned into a safe space. In particular, Frontier have confirmed that moderating which kinds of PvP player one encounters is an intended use of blocking, making the feature entirely relevant to PvP.
