Panther Clipper - What Are You Expecting?

I'd like it if it had a few hardpoints that were turret only, not even on the forward firing arc, and a few slots that only took missiles.

I wish to see a real DEDICATED TRADER. A ship that has real actual rear firing only turrets. A couple of guns covering the rear, the sides and one huge at the front for the smart-donkey thinking that's a turret blind spot. A ship that is a real danger only if you give chase.

1000+ cargo.
Slow and bulky.
Quite good defence values with focus on turrets, including SLF.
Hard to dock with.

well the type 10 is basically a type 9 with shipkit tacked on
the mkiv is a regular cobra with bits of a shipkit tacked on.
the viper whatever it is, is a viper with shipkit tacked on
the imperial eagle is an eagle with bits of a shipkit tacked on.

an anaconda with a spoiler maybe?

Easy to know what to expect in case of Frontier.

1. Panther releases soon (before 2020)
2. 1500 tones cargo capacity
3. Frontier balancing makes it jump max 0.91 LY unladen with grade 5 fsd from farseer
4. Players find an insanely profitable trade route inside a system, no need to jump
5. Everyone including me go there to make some quick billions
6. Frontier wont change the Panther, but nerfs the entire mission board, including material rewards (again)
7. Players go back to their cutters
8. Balance achieved

Trading profits have had a massive increase in payouts, difference now is you need to trade based on system state. Haven't done basic A-B-A trading for a while, wasn't aware that profits had decreased.
The first run is fine. Subsequent runs lose profit margin rapidly. Larger the ship cargo capacity, faster the prices degrade. This seems independent of supply as well. Take a system with 10,000 units on offer and another with 480,000 units. If you grab 500 units, both prices seem to degrade the same amount.

I've never recorded pricing and tried to work out the degrade per 100 ton run, for example, but that's what it feels like when doing A -> B -> A runs.

From what I read of it's size everywhere, I expect the Pantha Clipper to be the Player group Fleet Carrier.
Fleet carrier should have a series of landing pads for repair, rearm, refuel where a Panther Clipper is a standard ship that can only carry SLF. So I doubt that.

From all i know.. I expect nothing good at all. Even type 10 before 5 months of boring and barebones 2.4 is not something i can expect.

How large is the T-9 compared to the mailslot?

I mean, that's the limit they have to work in and at some point the ship will be HELL to just get inside.

Plenty of room to spare when flying the T9 through the mail slot.

Seconded. I think most people are just aiming for the middle of the slot, no matter which ship they're in.
Switching to the cam beforehand, actually checking where your cockpit resides in aspect to the rest of the ship definately helps.
:)

my expentation is kinda low, but i am in need for new ships.. dont care about any updates or fluff. all i want is more ships!!!

If frontier is about to add bigger ships like this, it could open the „XL“ class. Anyways, the corvette being the „smallest warship“ opens room for larger classes inbetween the very bis ships.
Landing could be solved like in EVE - they simply cannot go through the mail slot but stay in vincinity of a large station. after activating, (un)loading will be accomplished by small drones from/to staion.

As for features, it should have at least double the clipper cargo, if not tripple.
I‘d love to have 2-4 SLF bays which can start simoultaneously together with 3 type 4 turrets as well as many smaller turrets. no gimballed or fixed allowed to prevent a uber-combat ship. should rely on fighters and turrets
Mass locked 30 or higher.
10-12 utility slots
Very slow speed, like 100 and 130 boosting.
good jump range (e.g.30+ A rated unengineered) but twice the amount of time to load the FSD, since its a massive ship

you can do it frontier!
