Modes WARNING: A new type of trolling.... (MOVING TO MOBIUS)

[mad] I've just had 66mill of credits stripped off me in less than two minutes...

At the CG event (Oracle Station) there is a player who is deliberately flying a ship with no shields and hiding out near the mailslot targeting larger ships. He / she is deliberately putting themselves in your way when you try and pass - causing you to clip their ship, become wanted and blown up by the station.

This happened once as I entered, and once as I left. AVOID!!! Totally put off this game now. After hours of gameplay I had 115mill credits in the bank and now I'm down to less than half of that in two minutes flat and thanks to some jerk.

I was really looking forward to a search and rescue CG too.

So apparently a dedicated PVE server is needed to stop this stupid behavior.

EDIT:

Going by this video just posted (the thread is now in the PvP sub-folder, the target can be stationary and the griefer can still get away with ramming, speeding inside the station wasn't a factor.

So it is possible that the target can be stationary INSIDE a station and still get a fine, then get blown up? Can we chill out about the speeding stuff now and address the gankers?

Not new.

And stop breaking the law and you wont get killed. 100 m/s speed limit is for your safety and all the other commanders around you.

Could be an idea for the devs to include this in the launch / docking tutorial as a special notice (if it isn't already there?). I almost lost a Cutter to this mistake with a suicidal NPC in a hauler that bounced off me when I boosted into him on the way out of the station ;)

And yeah, commanders who do this for the lolz are unfortunately not breaking any rules, they are just abusing a mechanic for their own gratification.

Although I agree that trolls can be VERY creative in this game and cause a LOT of grief, in this instance it could have been avoided had you obeyed the speed limit.

Kill your speed, not your credit balance:)

There is a reason why stations yell this in your ear every two minutes :p

As usual, victim abuse runs rampant...

I sometimes wonder what sort of miserable lives people who have nothing better to do with their lives than rub salt in the wounds of other players must live, but then I decide that I already have examples.

The sad thing is, having rushed to kick the puppy, they will tell me it that they aren't miserable at all.

Yep, 100m/s is the limit, so it's your own fault. Saying that, i think each and every one of us knows that 100m/s is some kind of poor joke on FDs behalf. Too slow.....

I would disagree with that quite strongly. I'm afraid. There is something malicious about this troll who is hiding out of sight near the slot with no shields, then putting deliberately putting themselves in your path when you both come in and go out. It's like a kamikaze attempt at trolling! What a joke.

Don't missinterpret my comment, I absolutely agree with you :p I was just saying that had the OP been obeying the speed limit, the troll never would have had his way with him.

With all of the clamoring for a realistic c&p system, people sure seem resistant to obeying the law, don't they?

Other people are criminals Jason, they should be punished. We just bend the rules a bit, its not our fault!

Of course its malicious, and trolling, and daft. But it is the job of each cmdr to make the right calls and keep their ship intact. Speeding near busy stations, in expensive ships, during a CG, in anarchy? And then doing it again? :) It is the difference I guess between people who are super upset about Open and those who just shrug and ignore the trolls. It takes almost zero effort, other than a few moments of self-reflection and critical examination.

There is no puppy and the OP is a criminal. :p Stop dramatising everything. OP made a dumb mistake. Then did it again. Then blamed others. Well, with that mentality Open will indeed hurt. OP lost half his credits because he repeatedly gambled his ship because he couldnt spend the 30 seconds to slow down. Bad call. Doesnt mean the 'griefer' isnt an annoying dunghole, but its the kind of troll you can completely discard with some basic steps and awareness.

As for the 'I was looking forward to the s&r cg!' comment: I made an adder weeks ago for this. Boohoo if someone 'griefs' me, I'll pony up the whopping 200k or whatever. If you chose to bring your diamond hammer to the workshop, dont complain you risk more than if you just took a more sensible tool. Risk & reward and all that. ;)
