Module splitting

Therefore saying a slot is a size 4 means that you can fit something that has a mass of or capacity to hold 16t.
Depending on the module. A lot of class 4B modules are 16t or less, but there are a few which are heavier: a 4A Prismatic or 4H SRV bay are 20t each, and a 4E HRP can get up to 22.4t with engineering. Alternatively you could fit a class 3B G5-reinforced limpet controller in the slot and get up to 32t despite the module being 1 class undersized...

I propose modules that can split a module space into two smaller spaces. A size 2 module could be split into two size 1s, or a size 3 > 2+1 for instance.

Yes I'm all up for it ONLY if it has a downside like some weight extra weight should be mandatory and some modules should no be able to be placed.

ONE EXAMPLE:

4D HRP = 330 Armor + resists 1x

2x 2D HRP = 380 armor + resists 2x

So this is not as simple as that ;)

Quite right, I never thought to look up the max possible, just wrote what came to mind. It just reinforces the point though that there is this big space with a piddly little size 1 DSS rattling about in it. ;)

If this was to be a thing:

- at least a penalty of a half D rated tonnage for the module.

- HRP ,SCB and MRPs are prohibited to be placed.

- Corrosion resist cargo rack modules are prohibited.

My only question is... Inception should be possible?!
Eg. 4D module splitter with 2 2D module splitter

Why would you prohibit corrosion resistant cargo rack? Why that in particular? Not saying you're wrong, just asking.

I'm just trying to stop people from constantly coming into the forum making the same suggestions over and over and over again

you have not been very successful the last 3 years :D

forget it. just note it's not the same people bringing the same suggestions back. it's fresh meat. they day you stop seeing the same suggestions and discussions popping up over and over and over again ... you can start worrying about the game.

Because it would defeat it's purpose. We are not supposed to carry lots of UAs and UPs like they are candy ;) also if they are not. they might as well just remove the cargo corrosion at all. since everyone would run lots of those over spliting... Ua bombers would rejoice over it BTW..

I think the biggest problem isn't the method which the devs chose to control outfitting, it's the player base seeing one thing and not understanding the other. For example, in essence they get 28 upgrade points, in 10 slots leaving them left over numbers that go unused. And be it Retentiveness, OCD, or simply the shrewdness of the player -- the left over numbers simply annoy them to no end that they can't use them.

Yes, that's exactly the reason that drove me to open this post. If there were, for instance, a class 2 ADS and DSS I could put in those slots I would never have questioned it. Aha, I would have thought, that's what I can fill this empty space with. Having a space I can do nothing with has an unsettling wrongness about it.
