Star Citizen Discussions v7

A MVP for a patch of an alpha of a MVP of a game that was supposed to be released 3 years ago. More groundbreaking innovation from CIG.

In this regard "MVP" of 3.0 will represent a benchmark for the community as to what they can expect from the Star Citizen MVP. If 3.0 being a MVP is broken beyond belief and has next to no content I m sure some people will make the mental "jump" and apply that kind of result to SC whenever someones talks about "SC MVP" only this time with a CiG approved example. Explanations of how 3.0 or SC will eventually evolve into the BDSSE are hopeless against such kind of portfolio ^^

Not even trying to troll people here. I have the feeling the Citisn'ts come here of their free will to become salty.

That's purely because CIG have been too busy faffing about with mocapped mopping, concept jpeg sales, fashion stores and re-doing the same refactors over and over again, instead of providing them a game in a timely manner that suitable engages and entertains them.

Until that happens, well, there isn't much else for them to do really, is there? Until the next concept jpeg theorycrafting bonanza, of course.

It's strange though. I rather considered me watching THEM in the zoo.

Not a lot there but thanks for the info. I suppose it's just a matter of when this drops and people get cut off from refunding.

Now you've done it... people are telling mommy that someone's being mean https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/7dlcpx/meanwhile_in_the_frontier_elite_forums/

My understanding of MVP as CIG has talked about it previously, is basically marking the first 'full' release, with no more refunds thereafter. I don't buy the 'every release is mvp' line being trotted out.

I'm also not sure how 3.0 even being alluded to as the MVP squares with no sight of SQ42 for, gosh, ages, and SC still being explained away as being in pre-alpha.

I would be quite surprised if CIG made a stand on 3.0 being the gold-cut 1.0 MVP. The problem as I see it for CIG is that delaying 3.0 into 2018 is untenable, but to get it anywhere close to be good enough to be called 1.0-MVP is likely some way off.

Remind me, what was the original eta, 2014? 3 years late and no end in sight cannot be waved away with the excuse of scope creep. It seems unbelievable to me really, and such a pity for the fans who have been waiting since 2011 iirc.

Don't be surprised if they change their narrative to "this is more than MVP, because we added stuff along the way, that wasn't planned for the original MVP", and have them receive gratitude, praise and mass orgasms throughout the community.

So here we are now. 'MVP' has become the new and widely accepted buzzword for something of which true meaning comes very close to 'lowest thinkable crap'. MVP sounds so much better of course (and soo professional!) :D

This whole development reminds me more and more to all these umptheens 'creative' financial products, that only the experts still understand (if at all). Programming games, err wait - wringing out game projects for maximum profit - seems to become an art form in its own now. [weird]

I dare say it wouldn't normally fly but if you were promised a glass of water and then received a glass of pee instead 12 months later you'd probably be excited, thankful even :)

I admit to being a Star Citizen doubter and well.....hater. I have a few friends that got very cult-ish about it, each of them having dumped around $7,000 into it. When I see all this talk about MVP and bug-fixing in the store (concept sales trigger me) and combined with the latest outrage towards EA regarding Star Wars Battlefront 2 its almost ironic that CIG has fostered this 'we're not like AAA studios' and its rabid backers singing its praises about not being beholden to big 'evil' corps like EA or Activision yet its almost starting to seem like CIG was just as 'evil' all along. Concept sales, Clothing items etc.....all fictional things for real money.

Yet my zealous friends arent discouraged, one of them proudly crows "I've had more fun THINKING about Star Citizen than PLAYING any other game". Paying to dream, thats Star Citizen.

Another test video has appeared at https://streamable.com/xrv6l
FPS is in the top right corner (you may need to squint): Depending on how many commandos you're looking at, it wanders between 15 and 60.

I think it's great that people are really into something but when they pre-order digital goods to the tune of $7000 or honestly believe they have more fun thinking about a game than playing one, you have to wonder what the reality is going to be like for them. It's a complete loss of perspective in my opinion and it's like they are willfully blinkering themselves to everything else that is available.

Most likely CIG is leaking money like sinking ship so any MVP which can be legally showed as reason for stopping refunds is just worth it. Apparently even worth risking heavy backslash.
