Star Citizen Discussions v7

Been clarified in the thread many times already but just in case: The MVP mentioned in the latest ATV seems to refer to 3.0 live, not to final SC release live.

I'm personally uncertain how you can have a MVP of a patch of a preAlpha that...even if it hadn't had any features or content cut...still wouldn't be a MVP of the full game.

That would have to wait till 4.0 at the earliest. Assuming they don't cut anything, 4.0 would be the opportunity for a true MVP and the first Alpha build.

Even as a MVP of the patch...what they seem to mean is "we'll cut everything we can't get working simply to get it out" more than have it in any sort of state to "play"

In order to release the MVP, they will:
  • Remove any bugs Remove all features that have bugs
  • Have an MVP ship sale
  • Introduce another useless piece of technology that is really old and no-one really wants and tell everyone it is better that way, like the OCZ Neural Impulse Actuator
  • Have another ship sale
  • Archer something from another franchise - I don't think they've touched Blake's Seven yet
  • Call it 4.0
  • Give up trying to get framerates/networking/clipping/physics all working properly.

He mis-spelled "sarcastic laughter".
The 10 year anniversary sale will be epic.

On the 10th year anniversary Croberts would announce that CIG would try to build a real life version of the idris, with never been done before propulsion tech. Whales would be welcomed to pay for the rent of it's beds and rooms with all their high fidelity accommodation.

What I love about CIG is that they are going to have a celebration on how they fail as a company and are unable to finish what they start. So what do to celebrate this momentous occasion? Yep create more engineering debt that they have to finish. You got to love just how poorly CIG is run.

FPS is in the top right corner (you may need to squint): Depending on how many commandos you're looking at, it wanders between 15 and 60.
Be still, my beating heart.

Oh my god... what have they done to the poor cryengine? An engine that comes with character animation out of the box and so much jankiness, not to mention the framerate, on a more or less flat plain with a few other objects around.

How do you even achieve that?

A draft of Chris' letter for the upcoming sale.

Hai guyz, we are the bestest space game ever, the Best Damn Space Sim Ever, BDSSE, BDSSE, chant it along with me, BDSSE BDSSE, sob!!

^^ This...

Wouldn't it be great if they celebrated their anniversary by announcing (a) a release date or (b) revealing that a number of expensively desirable JPGs had been coded, tested and were now in-game for their owners to use?

But no... No progress... No game... Just another sale... and you just know the whales, and the terminally stupid will fall for it all over again...

It looks like the footage has been sped up slightly. But the figures at top right aren't exactly encouraging. I know they aren't exactly at the optimisation stage yet, they are still working on what they plan on putting in to the game in a few years time I expect, but it is worrying that it could be so low with so little going on. The idea that there could be multiple multi-crewed ships fighting it out and at an acceptable frame rate is difficult to believe.

While reading this my wife called over from the other room THREE times why our bank tried to verify credit requests done by me. I never even noticed I was so entranced :D
