FDev have said that post-2.4 they will be concentrating on improvements to Core gameplay.

As a supporter of Kistarter, I have heard many things from Frontier.
A lot of things promised and never realized (we will never see them)
and a lot of things not promised and unwanted, realized ... virtually all the content after the launch of the "game".

and now go with Xbox version, Playstation version, RIP Mac version, Planetcoaster and the dinosaurs!! AMAZING FD!!

They said we'd have a single player off line version as well, also failed to mention anything at all about CQC, you can take pretty much anything they say with a pinch of salt, they do (or do not do) whatever they want.

1) FD already said before launch they wanted to launch on other platforms too.
2) Contact apple and ask them why their OS is still stuck in 2011.
3) Game studios tend to make more than one game.

Good rant though, 5/7! ;)

As I understand it, Single Player Offline wasn’t an original part of the plan but rather a later suggestion that didn’t pan out.

Single Player offline was part of the kickstarter-package and one of the few things that were very clear during the foundation process. What I really wanted to say is: You are wrong.

This is the kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1461411552/elite-dangerous

They wanted a little over one measly million GBP for a game that would offer the following:
Real Freedom - Go where you like, be what you like - pirate, bounty hunter, trader, assassin, or some mix of all of these.
Trade - Buy low, cross dangerous space lanes, evade or destroy pirates en route, then sell high, if you make the journey!
Fight - Take on the pirates or be one yourself
Progress - Get your pilot rating all the way from "Harmless" to "Elite"
Explore - Head out to the far reaches of space and discover amazing sights

The basic pitch was for a very simple remake of the original Elite. What we have now in 2.4 is infinitely more than the basic pitch. It is also infinitely far from what people expect. Make of it what you will.

The basic KS pitch on the KS website doesnt even contain the terms 'offline', 'single player' or 'solo'. It was mentioned pretty early though, but that is something else.

Everything I’ve ever heard about it says it wasn’t part of the original Kickstarter. Can you provide a link that says otherwise?

Interesting. Thank you.

Do yourself a favor and check the comments section. There is a gentlemen called Oldschool Shadowrunner posting thousands upon thousands of complaint posts up to this very week since 'offline-gate'. Its hard to imagine now but some were really upset about it. As in really, really, upset. There is someone on these forums here as well who asked for a refund before launch and still shows up to complain about everything since.

Its a touchy subject. :p

You should have been around when they announced there wouldn't be one :)

If you think the forum is negative now it's nothing in comparison to back then in the age of refund demands.

There are still people waiting for their physical 3D ship models that FD still haven't honoured, yet people still trust them but give Chris Roberts a bad rap. Laughable.

I think anyone waiting 3+ years down the road for promises made from the Kickstarter... is in denial. Seriously.

Thank you, that was an interesting read. One thing that surprised me was the kickstart value, the starting cost was only a fiver! Silly me, the way some of the 'ORIGINAL KICKSTARTER PLAYERS' (they always seem to shout that) act I thought they had to donate thousands, hence their sense of entitlement. And now I find it was less than a cup of coffee .....

Interesting. Thank you.

You really need to check facts first. That's all. (So many defenders fail to do this: simply jump in apparently to defend yet they haven't checked facts). This thread is about confirmation bias. You seemed to have supported the concept well by replying with a preconceived notion.

Ummm... You really simplified things here and totally changed context. Watch the videos. You'll hear and see Db himself talk about so many things that are not in the game today nor in Beyond...

For some, yes, the cost of a cup of tea or coffee. But, allowing some with less to contribute. But safely some think that buying into a kickstarter game gives them stock in the company and a seat at the board meetings. I'm afraid this is what some of the entitled ones believe.

Quite so!! Nowhere is this more evident than in the forums (Spectrum) of the crowd funded Star Citizen project where backers who are actually given the opportunity to trade pledges for in-game ships have adopted the position that it is game development by committee.

IMHO OP is confusing two things :

Negativity vs. Reality
The only reality is that Horizon's took a year longer than it should have. The negativity that birthed from that reality was what OP was calling out.

What we're seeing all around ED is Reality setting in, nothing more but the naked results of direction and actions (or lack thereof) taken by Frontier.
Most if not all a completely logical and a widely expected long-term result. And it's not like they haven't been warned or strongly advised properly by an insanely patient and generally extremely helpful community over the last years.

I commend the community for it's patience, but "extremely helpful" is a gross overstatement.
I'll give you a reality:
The MAJORITY(but not all) of the community probably has no experience in game design or development. Sure some can recognize a bad design from good design.
Sure maybe some have good ideas and have potential to be a game designer, but most have no proper experience.
So the "community" can get off it's high horse and realize that it only makes suggestions, not solutions.
