I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
On approach to Cloudsdale. Which is in space. For reasons. Just roll with it....

Improved it. ;)

Wouldn't be the first time. Back in what, 2014(?), I posted a thread in the OT of the WoT console forum. "Best Looking Fighter Plane".

Last I checked, the thread is still active.

EDIT: Nice avatar BTW

So now I am so obviously in the company of experts.

What is the difference between a pony and a unicorn?

Unicorns are real.

No I'm not joking.

To add, unicorns have been a big part of my life, long before MLP:FIM came about. Long before.

Gonna take you seriously for a sec and answer.
There are four "kinds" of "pony" in MLP.
Pony - the usual
iu
Unicorn - horn on the forehead
iu
Pegasus - Wings
iu
Alicorn - Horn AND wings

SO you were seriously interested. Who'd have thunk?
You are talking about a franchise and what you have told me, explains why some of you little pony fans, have a unicorn and some don't. I have never looked at MLP stuff in any way, you have now opened my eyes to THAT world.

As to my question. Yes I am interested in what are the contemporary views, on Unicorns in general. But then I didn't know about the MLPs four pony types.

The Unicorn in one form or another, was recognised across the planet, from over a thousand years ago. Most of which were related to the equine form. I was just wondering what the modern take was.

Yes, both the Unicorn and the Pegasus come from the mythology.
As for the Alicorns, the authors of MLP, because it's basically a feudal fantasy world, needed to come up with the idea of "nobility", so they invented alicorns - a combination of both unicorn and pegasus. So there are two princesses (well, three, now, but no spoilers edit: crap, four, how did I forget Cadance!) who rule the land (they are basically the sun and moon)
And they naturally needed the "common folk", so they included the regular ponies.

I would definitely recommend checking the MLP:FiM out. It's surprisingly good. Especially for something that more or less started as an ad for girly toys. :D
Every episode has a "lesson" for the kids, and the stories are actually very well done.

The word alicorn actually originally referred to the very horn of a unicorn.
