Alright buddy, sorry then…

wait, then that means you do acknowledge that HoBros have their place in the game?

My beef is with gankers, and always has been.

I have zero problems with the vast majority of PvP players - the ones who know when to hold back on that goddamned fire button every time they see a hollow square. The ones who just hold duels between themselves.

It's the ones who just treat the game as an indiscriminate galaxy-wide frag-fest I have problems with. They're the ones peeing into the corn flakes, so to speak.

Hope that makes sense. I could elaborate, but I can't be bothered. ;)

Only 60 pages? The game is surely doomed.

It does make sense. The genuine PVP factions in game at least have rules of engagement and a no combat logging policy. It's the noobacondas that hang around Erevate destroying sidewinders and then combat log when interdicted that I have a problem with.

Well then…

Any thing goes, as far as said danger doesn't come from other CMDRs, right Genar?

Of course you did.

Well see, it's been written by a group notorious for treating the game as Galaxy Arena. The very same group of folks who blow up explorer-fitted ships parked at an alien wreck. The very ones I mentioned above who pee in the corn flakes.

Why should I take anything they say with any serious consideration?

OK I lied, I skim-read it. It amounts to "we want to have a crime hub immune from the BGS".

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAno.

I just saw the same black cat walk past that doorway twice.

Well, I mean… you were all joyful talking about how the space is full of disease and danger, and you fancy Open, so I obliviously believed for a moment you'd turned into a 'natural ecosystem' defender.

Sorry for that mistake. :D

Sounds about right. "But I do play in Open so there!"

What I found interesting about the SDC prop that I linked to was that they're clearly lobbying for structure and meaningful consequences, and all some of these guys are hearing is "evil PvP!" and going into insult mode. I mean, basically what you have is players wanting to have a legitimate discussion about the multiplayer component of the game sans all the narrow minded malarkey that seems so prevalent, and a small group of forum members who just want to throw tomatoes at them in the hopes of shutting them up.

Anything to avoid progress, basically.

I was kinda surprised that they were asking for 'easy mode'.

I read it as an attempted territory grab with built in exploits and an unconvincing sprinkling of C&P on top.

So pleased I am not the only one who though this.

I can't argue with that. The players who went out and made something of Colonia with all their community content were naively under the impression FD would let things pan out. But once the place became popular, the whole vibe changed and the writing was on the wall. FD wanted to open it up to factional gameplay. Personally speaking I think they could have given the community a year to make something of Colonia, with just the addition of construction CGs to help flesh out the colony infrastructure, and then see whether the place needed an injection of new ideas like their emigration plan. Would have been an interesting experiment if nothing else.

Yeah I was there and remember well the optimism at the time that we might just get a place we could work on and build on and call our own. And then they did the very thing many of us came out here to get away from which at the time, felt like a low blow from frontier.

Many of those trying to influence FD at the time were never a part of the original work done...they were bubble factions trying to dictate the future direction of colonia and it left a real bad taste in the mouth afterwards because it seemed like frontier were catering to the minority. Funny thing about it was those supporters of the faction system laughed and scoffed at our predictions that colonia would fail...not laughing quite so loudly these days though...and where are those very vocal supporters now?

Good question that. Whatever though...I was simply trying to put into some context why I have such little trust in them...the colonia 'experiment' is the reason why I find it difficult to trust them ^

It's been common place in the forums, Jason. It's all about censorship and trying to shut the PvPers up. Mocking, insults, badgering, trolling everywhere. Also, always the same 5-7 people…

I don't think that's entirely true Jason, I've had more than my fair share of beefs with SDC but, as you'll see from my post in that thread you linked, I thought their proposal was pretty good. The thing is it involves far to much evasion and carrot and not enough stick, it's not about wanting to avoid progress but stearing clear of progress that is only beneficial to criminals.

And the problem SDC, scrub that, any of us have when posting here is our posting history and our action and preferences in game. SDC can't expect a clean slate when suggesting something considering their previous actions any more than a Mobius member can. Rightly or wrongly we all do it, it's happening from both sides in this very thread and in recent posts, SDC shouldn't expect a waiver simply because of a well presented but flawed idea.
