I want to play elite dangerour on playstation vr now!

I'm sorry to say that I'm disenchanted with dangerous elite, I no longer want to play a game that does not adapt to the new generation of virtual reality, I did not buy my playstattion vr to let it drop, it's discouraging to have to play such a game on a screen 4k when I could even with less resolution be feeling the immersion of being inside the game, from now on I refuse to play games that do not have this new technology imbutida in them, it is like to take a step forward and two behind, who like technology needs to enjoy what is ahead in novelty, not get stuck in the past, square screen games is a thing of the past, come to immersion, or I give up playing, I'm sure I'm not the only one who thinks so, since VR playstations have been very well sold worldwide. Either you give more value to the players, or they will lose one by one, until no one else wants to play elite dangerous.

Sorry, but you do not seem to realise just how big a demand VR puts on hardware.

This isn't related to Elite Dangerous not wanting to put VR out on playstation, that you can be assured, so stop blaming elite Dangerous.
This is related to the PS4 hardware not being powerful enough, the PS4 Pro might be powerful enough to do a low detail version of the VR, it is simply how demanding VR is.

So yeah, before you go on a rant and blame Elite: Dangerous and frontier for not wanting VR for playstation, you may want to consider that it currently might be difficult to achieve and it is likely that since the normal PS4 likely won't be able to drive it, Sony is not going to allow it to be released since it would only work on PS4 Pro.

Too bad. Ed is not a game that runs easily in VR even on a high end pc. That you would insist on it being made console ready for you especially when it isn't a native VR or console title, is just childish. You want to play pc games in VR -build a pc. I'm sure Frontier will be up nights worrying.

I would like to feel bad about your 400 dollar investment but my 4000 dollar investment works great sorry and believe me we have been through a lot of issues over the last 36 months also even on the high end with DK2 and now CV1 but I would not give it back its the only way to play such a game

I feel your frustration, I have a psvr as well as a pc and vr headset, but it’s not about frontier not bothering with psvr. In fact, David Braben was asked about it on an AMA and he stated they tried it, but were not able to get the game up to a suitable quality to deliver a good gaming experience.

Gosh, even Skyrim —which is wonderful— has had to have comprises to the graphics to be able to run on psvr. And even on the pro, while we get slightly better details, it’s grapically on par with the original version of the game running on an xb360 as opposed to the high resolution remaster.

If you have a gaming computer with at least an i5 cpu and a gtx 970 or better you can run the PC version Elite on your HMD with a bit of software finangling.

As loribee says, it likely wont be happening on a ps4 tho.

Yeah, If you've got reasonable specs on a PC, then you could give this a try.. And while I personally had some problems with it (text clarity and drifting) it did sell me on the idea of VR for Elite .

You are complaining without understanding the problem. Playstation 4 simply doesn't have enough computational power required for VR. The Pro version's GPU has barely enough computational power for it, so maybe that could handle a low-detail version. Time will tell.

Yep, what they said. The base PS4 is not powerful enough to run Elite in VR, and even if the Pro was, Sony have stated that all VR games must be able to run on the base PS4 units.

And that is why consoles will forever hold back gaming development until someone gets a damned clue.

I was thinking that they (Microsoft) would allow Windows Nixed (sic) Reality onto the X-B-O-X (the new one) but it doesn't look like - probably a lack of content, and a lack of content due to to headsets .. its a vicious circle, but MS is in danger of really missing the whole boat - especially as the Nixed Reality platform kinda lends itself more to casual/console gaming with it's self-contained inside out tracking.

Elite Dangerous in VR now

I understand that sony has deceived us all, but unfortunately it's the quality we have these days, I do not know if I'm going to live another ten or twenty years to see a powerful console to play the games I like in VR, I would be willing to play with a minor resolution, to be able to experience it today in virtual reality, it is an insult only to exist children's games and squares without sense to you, so it was better not to have launched the virtual oculus, since we can not play the games which we love as elite dangerous.

Playstation is a toy, it has always been a toy, always will remain a toy.

If you want real VR and a real grown up toy, buy a PC.
The new xbx is barely compare able to a middling PC with a 1060, the games just become super optimised for it and of course MS and the devs seem convinced people are ok with 30fps as long as it meets the latest hyped up high resolution standards.

But most games these days have running downsampling that engages when you no longer have the power to maintain even that, so during busy sections games could be rendering as low as 480p, and then just upsample from there.
This isn't new, it's been used since the ps3 or the 360.

Then buy the right tool for the job which in this case is a PC. Playstation / Xbox is a waste of time if you seriously want to play in VR.

After your first sentence(?) I lost what you were going on about... Children, games, squares or launching virtual oculus... I have no idea mate, no idea at all.

I would not be that harsh .. it's not a toy, but is a very good system that's easy to use for games that are optimized for it. There are plenty of fantastic games (both VR and Non-VR) available for the system.

EVE:Valkyrie and Skyrim work very well in VR actually. - Elite however, is a more complex game with a lot more going on in the background than you might realize. Games like Elite do put large demands on specs for playing in VR - it's just the complexities of the game.

Even though the PS4/Pro is certainly not going to be as good as a tricked out PC for games, I am very happy with my PSVR and PS4Pro.

I have a good pc that runs well elite dangerous, but a rift glasses here in Brazil costs the same as buying a car, will it be worth spending so much for a game?

exactly so lets not be so bold if you can afford the cost pc is the way to go no doudt but you wil be getting yourself into some cost to do it right

Probably not.
But that's a geopolitical trade issue and way out of my wheel house.

so hear however you can get the PSVR working on pc with Elite but it takes some tweaking and of course mileage may vary.
I don't own a page so have never tried, I dot even own a console anymore.
