Alien archaeology and other mysteries: Breaking News, Theories and Tinfoil Hattery

Is this a new UCB?

Found an Unregistered Comms Beacon and think it could be a new one!
Unfortunately doesn't seem to lead to anything of interest so, sorry, don't get excited.

Anyway, thought I would report it. Couldn't see it listed in the Canonn codex.

The UCB is in the Cochi system next to the Issigonis Gateway station.

The video of the UCB broadcast is here: -

This gives the key to the following Galnet article: -

This decodes as the following text: -

Unfortunately nothing exciting at the location. Just a permanent POI with some ships.

Still looking for that UCB which points to the next INRA base! [where is it]

Fly safe out there CMDRs! o7

Nice find - as you say, it doesn't look new, but it's new to us :) Will report for inclusion in the codex o7

So, something bugging me has been a lack of imagery of the various bits of Thargoid Salvage that drops off as you fight a Thargoid ship. So at significant risk and hundreds of thousands in repairs, I've hot-shot some salvage mid-fight with a Thargoid. It's really interesting to look at.

And, what I think is most interesting (and therefore gets more shots)...

There's considerably similarities between the tubes in the weapons parts and the Thargoid Sensor fragments. Obviously with the honeycombing these probably "grow" or are built in the lattice and released when necessary. The corrosive missiles? Developing Thargons? Who knows...

EDIT: Also, for comparison, TS fragment

Out of rep for ya. Amazing shots! Holy cow! Really interesting stuff

Has anyone noticed how oddly similar the Thargoid, Human, and Guardian narritive is to Prometheus, Aliens, etc?

The H.R. Geiger stylings of most things Thargoid, the Promethean 'tune' heard in Alien:Covenant and Prometheus being a similar tune to the TS 'wail', the DNA similarities with the Guardians... The list goes on.

Minor cross-post, just posted this in the Thargoid Interactions thread.

Short version: You can "attract" Thargoids with Thargoid Sensors in much the same way as you do with meta-alloys, so it's likely that quantities (6t or more) of anything they'd normally scoop might attract a Thargoid.

Does this change any speculation about Thargoid activity?

Try it with escape pods. If it holds true it may explain why a lone CMDR isn't a priority...

So no, escape pods don't cause a second jump-in (just did 9 of them). Single Thargoid scooped em all up.

Am getting a probe and sensor, then collecting 10 links. Will try two things, one with one of each item out, another having dumped 9 links

Have previously attracted a second by dumping a TS/TP/TL trio : less items than with meta alloys. Though maybe there was other stuff already in the nhss to make it up to 5...

Edit: This would have been in NHSS6 with Basilisks as I was trying to see what would happen if I 'played' a TL message with free floating TL such that the TL did it's 'pointy' thing. I also think I summoned a second with a 4 TL, but I may have just been killed.

Basilisk Thargoid at Barnacle Forest

Hi all,

TL;DR Yesterday a friend of mine and I went to the Pleiades Sector to grab some meta-alloys for Farseer. However, a Basilisk Thargoid came out of hyperspace and attacked us. I couldn’t find any reports similar to this so I figured I should post up here about it.

My friend and I went to the barnacle forest at Pleiades Sector PN-T B3-0, A5, Lat -4.4946 Lon 145.6557. About 5 minutes after landing, a Thargoid came out of hyperspace and activated its shutdown wave.

I couldn’t get a scan on the Thargoid, but it appears be a Basilisk variant.

Then it proceeded to the large barnacle and began to interact with it. The Thargoid released some sort of green cloud from the sides of the ship, which curled around to the bottom. Afterwards it didn’t do the full beam interaction with the barnacle, it only displayed a bright green light for about 10 seconds. Then the Thargoids pedals started to glow bright white, and it flew back to where it exited hyperspace. It stayed up there for about 15 seconds and then came back to hover over the barnacle forest. We held very still, hoping that it’d leave, but 5 minutes later it opened fire on us with its laser. Both SRVs were destroyed and my friend managed to escape with 4% hull on his AspX. Luckily the Thargoid didn’t attack my Cobra.

As I mentioned earlier, I couldn’t find any reports like this so I am curious, is this something new or has this happened before?

It did to me. :)
I do hope it won't go much deeper, though. At least Elite's story and lore appears much more detailed.

Also, everything always comes back to the Pilots Federation and Raxxla.

It wouldn't surprise me if either the Guardians created Humanity or we both decended from a completely different race that once ruled from Raxxla. Either way, I want to know how a trans-dimensional doorway fits into the narritive.

I was wondering, has anyone done any mathematical work with the Guardian ruins? I may have a theory, but I'd like to know if it has already been thought of.

Did Braben just hint that we might start encountering those 'oldschool' Thargoid ships found crashed before? (In the livestream)

Perhaps determining which Thargoids are Oresrian or Klaxian might be easier than we thought...

Sandro did confirm that there is more to come from 2.4 BEFORE Xmas. What that means is anyone's guess, but hopefully something special.

Oh and the krait will be a medium ship. But you all already know that, right? GET DONATING peeps, it's for a great charity.
