Modes Elite Dangerous PvE vs PvP and who needs a Solo play if you had PvE server

I do think that there are some features that should make open play mandatory, such as powerplay. But beyond that I'm happy to let folks do their thing.

There is no "should" - as the game is not designed that way and PowerPlay was consciously implemented for all players, not just those that prefer PvP.

It rather cuts both ways - as mentioned earlier - direct PvP is enabled in both multi-player modes (and not all players like that) and affecting the BGS, Factions, PowerPlay, CGs, etc. is enabled in all three game modes (and not all players like that) - that's the game we all backed or bought.

There are no separate servers. The game modes are merely social filters applied to matchmaking.

.... and as the majority of players (a fact that one Dev has indicated Frontier are well aware of) do not get involved in PvP then if two modes were to be removed (which they won't be - as the furore surrounding the removal off Offline mode from the scope *pre-release* was very probably enough to dissuade Frontier from messing with Solo, ever - plus the fact that console players without premium platform access can only play in Solo) I'd expect that PvP would end up being optional through a flagging system or removed entirely.

My use of "should" as a subjective term is perfectly reasonable and acceptable. And I think Powerplay would have been better implemented as an Open only, PvP enabled game feature, and I think they should change it to be so.

That's one opinion, certainly. Others, naturally, vary. Frontier's being the one that matters - and they consciously implemented PowerPlay across the three game modes - and they would also seem to be well aware, from what one Dev has indicated, that the majority of players don't get involved in PvP - which is strongly suggestive of no existing game content being locked to a single game mode.

Whoa... it's like PvPers rushing to an anarchy trade CG :D

I know, and it was a terrible decision in my opinion. Even if it stays available to all modes, there are many ways that it could be improved for all players. But that is for a different discussion.

Those poor welsh soldiers... minding their own business in open mode South africa.

Bloody Zulu griefers, they werent RP-ing properly. Not standing there and being shot, using the zerg rush meta instead

I bet they even engineer exploited their spears too...

I have played in solo and open, and only attack other commanders if they have a bounty worth going for I enjoy wings in haz res which has been a recent thing for me as I normally play the lone wolf bounty hunter/ mission runner I enjoy CGs but lately have been annoyed with the gankers who attack unarmed commanders without even a word .

i think that a good C & P. System would stop the ganking and if you want everyone to play open then reduce rebuts to zero and have a weekly insurance payment based on earnings as you would in real life .

make sure those who kill commanders have a hard time getting insurance but allow those who want to pvp the ability to do so

perhaps have an area of space reserved for pirates and pvpers. Where reporting doesn’t happen

better still lets have thargoids roaming the bubble at will in numbers but give us weapons that don’t take a wing and ten minutes to kill 1v1.

make engineered modules degrade over time so they need to overhauled by an engineer after so many hours of use . That would enable everyone to have the new upgrades over time

Colour Sergeant Bourne: We survived.. it's a miracle.

Lieutenant John Chard: If it's a miracle, Colour Sergeant, it's a macro'd ALT+F4 miracle.

Colour Sergeant Bourne: And a forum post sir, with some victim politics behind it.

The decision is consistent with Frontier's reiterated stance that all game modes are equal and valid. How it could be improved is, as you say, a different discussion.
