Modes How to incentivise Open without buffing its rewards

That's because those 40,000+ can be verified by purchases of the game. In order to create/join a Private Group in game, you must have purchased the game... (active players or not... those are individual accounts)

Mobius PvE was created with PvE in mind. That doesn't even count Solo players who play only for PvE reasons. (which one can assume if they want PvP they know where to go... and it's not Solo)

Outside of FD showing us actual figures- how else would you propose to verify it?

On the contrasting side- how does the "PvP" community show verified game purchase numbers? All I've seen so far is references to "Reddit" which doesn't verify purchases?

It's all speculation, sure- but in reality you're at a disadvantage if you want to argue numbers without having some sort of proof to back it.

For copies sold, I tend to use official numbers as per reputable sources such as this http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-08-15-planet-coaster-soars-past-million-sales. Google is your friend.

Except, copies sold doesn't tell you how many play in what mode... nevermind gameplay styles. Inaccurate as a measure.

How do you know that 90% of those copies sold aren't people playing in Solo for that matter?

TL;DR: *Buzzer sounds* Try again.

BTW Goose, you're getting stingy with the GIFs lately :p

So open and pgs need nerfing then, as solo doesn't get wing helper or crew mates, so solo must be the hardest mode and needs the highest rewards.

I agree, let's boost solo rewards to compensate.

The only way to balance the game is shut down Open and Private Groups....those break the game for Solo...

Around and around it goes.... Where it stops..... Well we all know. ;)

So since we've had this new forum layout, how much mod time has been used here compared to the rest of the forums?

a rough % value will do.

I think about 20% more mod time is used here to anywhere else, because you all love us and we are special...... and because you know we all fight like cats and dogs on this topic :p

How about three separate pilots per account, one for each mode, with completely separate galaxies.
Two problems: 1) presumably more server stress; and 2) less for pvp ers to about, although I suppose it would morph into a discussion about removing anything but the open account because people chose mainly the other modes.

PC, XBox and PS2 players need to share the three modes across platforms first. Been suggested and ridiculed many times. Too resource intensive to have separate BGSs. Maybe someday.

And after reading 7 pages of this drivel... you would think they would quit trying to pull the same old fast one over and over and over again... “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results”

Oh, I know... like I said, gotta give em props for trying even years later ;) LOL

The funny thing is, it has been the same argument for literally decades now.

People slaughter newbies, then make fun of them, saying 'learn to play you noob' (or some variation)
Newbies either quit, or find a way to play that avoids the malicious individuals.
Those who slaughter newbies find themselves alone and call for more people for them to slaughter, either by providing bonuses or the outright closing of other servers.

Again. And again. And again.

Doesn't matter the game, the cycle repeats itself over and over again.

That's the definition of stubborn. How it came to be the supposed definition of insanity has always baffled me.

I believer it's been attributed to Albert Einstein. *shrug

The thing is if you repeat a lost argument often enough people get sick of hearing it and start to ignore you. The instant that happens you then continually refer back to the one thread nobody bothered to contradict you in as proof that the terrible idea has support and no opposition.
