Python Explorer

Ok, I’m going to make the trip to Beagle point, my Python May be the means of transportation...it has a 27 ly jump range fully loaded, stripped down I can probably get 33-35 (I will engineer for low weight too)

Is this ship able to make it to Beagle Point? Is there any recommendations on what I should bring? I know there are better ships for this journey but it’s my Python...it’s served me well, I would like to see it at Beagle point

The original Asp which reached Beagle had that sort of low-30s range, without the option to use FSD boost synthesis, so you should be fine. T-9s, FDLs and Corvettes have made it there.

(And yes, Python is a great exploration ship)

Sweet, thinking of spending the next few weeks just exploring all the ‘sights’ by going to Beagle Point and returning through Saggitarius A and Colonia

Graphics update? Doubt we will get it on the consoles though so doesn’t matter
I doubt you console folk will be left out. Elite Dangerous has always looked good if nothing else. If your consoles can handle it, I'm sure they'll include you in whatever patch they have planned.
It's usually easier if software works the same everywhere, it's less to maintain.
😁

I'm sure you will since it will affect terrain and whatnot too. Might just need to be at a somewhat lower setting.

Anyway, jump range needed to reach Beagle Point is 34LY, from what I've heard, so if your ship can't jump that far you'll need enough jumponium for it.

Well, if you’re sure, gives me time to super engineer my Python for this trip then

Just thinking that I have an
Asp-E and am out exploring.
It's got just about a 35 ly range.
Having spent a good few weeks out in The Black, I'd say the more jump range the better.
I'm finding getting around slow.
You'll be on a pure jump-scoop-jump if you want to get there in any sane amount of time.
I'm spending time investigating systems so that's probably slowing me down, but nonetheless with less than 30ly, you're setting yourself a big task.
Good luck. The python is a great ship. 👍
PS can it have crew? It can be nice to have people join you for the ride and a bit of a chat. Will stop you going crazy(ier 😉)

Why yes it can! Both pilot and co pilot are side by side so we will see the same thing if that happens :)

I might have to make an event out of that XD join me on my journey! Be my copilot for a while!

There are two ways to get to Beagle point, folow the arm and stars or traverse the abyss. Not sure about jump ranges needed for the abyss (empty space between the spiral arms).

It sure can. I took a 22LY Python to Beagle Point for Distant Worlds and it did a great job. One of the last jumps is 34LY, so you'll probably need FSD boosts to get there.

Good luck with the trip CMDR!

My Python always gets really hot when I scoop which discourages me from using it for exploration. Maybe it is how I have it engineered, not sure. Also, I'd wait for the graphics update.

Well considering a Sidewinder made it to right at the edge of The Abyss before Beagle Point before engineering and Jumponium Synthesis, you won't have an issue. Just follow the paths of other ships thought the more denser stars through The Abyss if you need to and you will reach it in the Python without any issues...

I wouldn't count on that. Most a "stock" Sidewinder can possibly jump for its base range is like 24LY.

34LY is what it purportedly takes from the people I've talked to that have gone there and logged some of the distances, so I've built one of my ships around that minimum which I plan to take out there sooner or later.

Your instinct is almost certainly spot on. It is terribly easy to overcharge powerplants, overcharge weapons, shields and so on, and quickly turn any ship into a fiery furnace; the negative side effects of engineering quickly add up. The Python certainly does not have to overheat, and if built properly for exploration doesn't even require heat-sinks.
