"Alright Commander, welcome to The Unshielded Trader, the finest bar this side of whichever Trade CG is running this week. Pull up a pew, grab a Lavian Brandy and tell us how things are going for you out in the black today. Lets share a few trade or mining tips, tell a few tales about the size of our cojones and escapades and discuss suitable builds for our ships. Hell, if this works we might even get some of those glory stick jocks in here offering their services as an escort... no not in that way, what's wrong with you!?!"

I've been mostly running that Core Dynamics CG this week, much good fun. Sadly at the moment my ships are not engineered, in any shape or form, in this beauty, the MV Steadfast. How about yourselves?

Notes for the Mods 1: This is NOT a Mode discussion thread, nor does it intend to be. If you're happy to have specific Private Group announcements in Dangerous discussion, then this thread shouldn't pose an issue where I've placed it.
Notes for the Mods 2: This is NOT a Roleplay thread, I've just used a bit of flowery text to make the first post a little interesting.

If you need to explain what a thread isn't about, you are doing it wrong.

And if using A Star Citizen screenshot publicity jpeg for a discussion on ED isn't trolling, it is a darned good impression of it...

I'd make a great escort.

Also the Core Dynamics supercruise. What's up with that?

Yeah, that is a bit of a beast isn't it? I actually bet you would make a good escort for a few tonnes of rares or palladium. I'd take you up on it, but really that's for the big kids in their hulking behemoths. What I might do, if we get enough, put links to peoples forum accounts into the initial post so folk can find a decent escort pilot, who's reputable and trustworthy based on thread users reviews :).

I'd be willing to run escort duty but I don't know how good I'd be at defending my charge. I could run interference in a cheap ship or try to keep them distracted. None of my ships are fully engineered but I like to think I can fly pretty good. My name in-game is Cashback (without the $) if you want to look me up.

...

OK, I guess I better pay my bill and leave now.

No this bar doesn't work like that...you paid at the door! Leaving without getting your drinks? Please yourself!

Personally, I've gone for the 'VIP bar experience' with my own personal waiter, choice of any drinks, any time
with cheesy nibbles. I'm also entitled to the big comfortable Chesterfield & walnut table (most opt for the deck chair in the corner)....& a special meeting with the bar owner in the VIP lounge Woohoo! 'Can't wait!

...now where are those drinks? I don't want to complain but isn't 9 hours quite a long time to wait for a drink?

Missleading Thread Title.
OP Post without any purpose or direction.

? Maybe you should write what it is for?

I vote for close.

<comes over with a bottle of Snake Gin and a metal mug full of that dubious liquid>

I tell you on thing. Don't fly after 22:00 in a CG system. That's the time the killers come out of their hiding and turn super-cruise and stations into a slaughterhouse. Before that time everything is nice and peaceful, after that it's senseless killing. Don't know why, but that's the way it is.

And going shieldless? Yea, you can do that. Takes some preparation, maybe spend some time with one of those engineers, but mostly it takes good situational awareness - and a huge amount of "don't care".
Done it a few times at The Oracle.

Sadly management ordered me to stay on the ground over the next few days. No space time for me, full dress uniform for those special ceremonies. Only bearable with enough snake gin…

I tell you 22:00 and it's kill-time…

<wanders off to a shady corner of the bar>

Same here, pretty much grounded as of 1600 today for a few days, like most of us :D

You are right about the shieldless builds though, however as you say, it does require a LOT of forethought and planning.

Speaking of planning, one of my favourites is the parabolic curve approach rather to flying to a station rather than directly at it from the sun. It seems to throw a few of them off :)

Parabolic is right. Swing out wide like a pitchers arm and don't slow down for the station on your first pass. Shoot through at full chat then throttle back on the return. Use the planet to slow you and take a tip from an old pro who taught me, unlock the station and drop out manually as close as you can. With practice you can get in within 50 kilometres. Far enough out to be off scanner range but close enough to eyeball T beams n that.
