Landing on planets in the Type 10 must be what Hell is like

I experimented with landing the T-10 on a planet in extreme conditions.

It made every attempt to land above me when recalled on the side of a mountain (which would have been impossible for any ship, of course)

The image is misleading because the ship is almost horizontal (!) :

You were able to fudge the ship into landing despite hundreds of other players not being able to make that happen?

Stop mudding the waters with bogus claims that there is nothing wrong! It is hard enough to get Frontier to fix glaring bugs with the game. We don't need people going out of their way to throw up obstacles towards getting this issue dealt with!

I am trying to explain that everything is not all bad with the T-10, that Commanders should be prepared to persevere with the ship. It can and does work.

If a balanced approach to the subject doesn't fit your agenda, please don't start shouting insults about "Get a clue!" Just close your eyes, instead, and look the other way

Hey Lightspeed, as far as I am aware there is no issue with the ship autolanding. The issue is when you attempt a manual landing, at least that is what I noticed, haven't taken the T-10 planet side for a while now due to the bug.

I've seen comments about auto landing problems, also manual landing problems. But I've taken the T-10 on a few planetary scan missions with manual landings and only had to abandon one of them because the terrain was just too rough.

It's not as clever at landing as the T-9 (apparently), which indicates a probable design fault, but it's nowhere as bad as some people in this thread seem to believe.

There is evidence to suggest its hit box is excessive, as betrayed by the warnings about unauthorized landing in the adjacent landing bay, if you swoop in low like a plane, which you don't get with (as far as I am aware) the other big ships.

The T-10 has also a additional problem. If you relog the T-10 sinks in the ground and the SRV can´t dock anymore. Happens everytime on the Thargoid site in Maia.

yes this is a pain , i have to board ship every time i relog then re deploy srv , slow'es things down alot

Yeah definitely not a huge deal, the ship will eventually land, just not as forgiving as the T9 or other ships. Definitely a weird hitbox bug somewhere. Nice to know about the unauthorised msg, I thought my technique had changed, I guess it must be the hitbox. Have been flying in a bit higher to compensate for the warning.

I wouldn't call it minor. When trying to land the T10 it's really super fussy about the terrain. I've literally spent 10 minutes already trying to find a landing spot, on relatively flat terrain no less that any other large ship would have landed on in less than a minute.

I'd call it a major annoyance. It's so bad that I'm avoiding using my T10 for surface work until the bug gets fixed.

What have the devs said on the issue? If there is a ticket open I would assume they are working on it, the ship wasn't open beta tested so I am not surprised a glitch got through, tbh I am surprised there are not more glitches, I think one of the large hardpoints was also bugged on release.

Last time I landed it, took 4 or 5 tries, was not aware it was so bad that it takes up to 10 mins. I agree, that would be a major annoyance.

There's a bug ticket still current, and refers to this thread, so they are aware of everyone's range of problems with this ship. Dev QA-Mitch asked for videos of problems if possible to help with the investigation.

I haven't done any testing on the matter, but I suspect the actual problem is a combination of the location of the landing pylons, and how the rocks on the planet are dispersed.

Specifically, those rocks that damage your SRV if you hit them too square, or too hard (regardless of their size). If one of those is under a pylon, it might cause problems.

I know the T-9 is similar, and has similar landing pylons, and doesn't appear to have this issue, but that doesn't stop me from thinking that it has more to do with the above, than anything else.

The fact that it can land on a slope seems to indicate that the problem isn't just the ship chassis itself.

I am doing some materials collection shortly, and if I have any issues landing, I'll take a closer look.

Maybe I've just been lucky, but landing the T-10 hasn't been a problem for me (yet). I've taken it to several different types of planetoids and landing wasn't particularly difficult on neither high or low gravity planets. In my experience (which is limited, obviously) the Imperial Cutter is harder to land sometimes, particularly on high G worlds.

Just had a passenger mission to a nearby alien crash site, decided to do some tests out there, carried out 4 landings, no issues except the final landing.

First video shows the bug on my last landing, my flying was sloppy, however the HUD was lit up stating the ship could land.

Yep, there does seem to be.

Half the time, this is as close as "landing" as my T10 gets, after being recalled.

It just hovers there, with the SRV bay open and I can scoot underneath it and board in the normal way.

I believe there's also an issue whereby if you log out while the T10 is landed it'll clip into the terrain when you log back in again.
Never had this happen to me but I've seen pictures of it.

And then there was the time when I landed my T10, deployed the SRV and discovered that my T10 had decided it wasn't landed after all.

Note that the thrusters are firing in that pic. The ship was "intentionally" airborne, rather than just being misaligned with the terrain.
Which, in itself, was a bit odd since the thrusters were disabled and, upon reboarding, it just fell out of the sky.


TBH, about the only thing that doesn't seem like a glaring bug, to me, is the actual landing, itself.
Sure, it's a bit fiddly but it's not unduly so.
As I've said, I wouldn't mind if the other big ships became a bit more like the T10 when it comes to landing them.


Clearly there's some kind of problem which relates to everything to do with landing the T10 and it's not just about it being "difficult to land" - cos it really isn't that difficult to land IMO.
