Ships Krait will be nice ship it seems

The Krait and Chieftain were both mentioned in the Q1 segment of the expo, so if there's no delays, it may appear from a few days time to end of March....

I bet it will be till April when we see it. I'm trying not to get myself over-hyped for this but the anticipation is growing.

This ship will hopefully fill one of the price gaps we have for larger ships. I am very excited for this ship. If it can be faster than a Python/Cutter, it may be the fastest SLF supported ship!

Given the introduction of the T-10 i currently fear the Krait
just will be a Vulture MKII with an SLF bay.

I duly hope this ship will be unique, with speed and a high
internal module count.
The Krait was one of the pirate ships, let it please be that way.

haha, you bet how the crowd will cry when they they see the chieftain beeing and alternative to the dropship, when they - for whatever reason - put it on par with the python in their dreams

That is the problem with the game:
Every ship is compared to the subjectively best ship of the size.
Medium ships -> Python

Truth! Cobra 3 for small, Asp for small/medium, Python (big!) medium and the Conda for large, TBH if you've got these you need not bother with any other ship except we do anyway just to be awkward! ;)

dunno,
for me my progression was:
Sidewinder, adder, eagle, viper mk3, dbs, type6, vulture, FDS .... year hiatus ... FDS, Type7, Python, Type9, Federal Corvette, Type10

i think half the time i have played, i was in the FDS...

My prediction is they will take the worst things from the Dropship and the Clipper and put them together, and that will be the Chieftain.

So, paper shields, paper hull, bad jump range, and a canopy that constantly needs to be fixed? Maybe, but then again, maybe not.

We do know that the chieftain will get lots of guns, as we are currently looking at 4 medium, with (possibly) another 2 medium and 2 large. Looking at the cockpit placement on the chieftain, it will probably have dropship canonpy syndrome (better upgrade that life support). As for the internals, the chieftain is obviously a combat ship (dropship and clipper are both multipurpose), so it will probably not get the module flexibility of either the dropship or the clipper (more/bigger mil slots maybe?). It will probably get decent shields and armour too (possibly a hybrid shield/hull tank?).

Edit: Beyond Q1 Update Beta just announced. Apparently the chieftain will be faster and more maneuverable than other ships in its class, and will have some pretty serious firepower. We will only have to wait until Jan 25 for more information, too [yesnod]

Well we know the Krait is a Medium. Fact.

There's a gap in Medium sized ships for something properly fast, ie: 300 base speed, 380-400 boost speed (ignoring EPTs).

Small: Cobra MK3, iEagle, Viper MK3 = 300 +/-20 base, 400 boost
Medium: FDL = 260 base, 350 boost
Large: Clipper, Orca = 300 base, 380 boost

Even the AspX is 250 base, 340 boost, which is not far off the FDL. So a Medium which does 300 base, 380-400 boost is a definite gap, and prime for a "pirate" multirole to plug.
I'll be very happy if the Krait slots between the Cobra MK3 and Clipper, as the fast medium multirole.

Again taking those other two ships: Cobra has 6 slots, Clipper 8; so 7 slots would be right in the middle; 4x medium; 3 utilities; 30-ish Ly jump range (40-ish explo fit).
If the SLF bay is taken, the weight may slow it down but (sort of) give it FDL firepower, while skipping a fighter bay lets you slot right into the Cobra/Clipper hole.
Ditto flight style like those other two, which would still allow the Chieftain to be "more manoeuvrable", if the Krait is more a boom and zoomer.

I guess we'll be waiting until Q2 now... as FDev don't seem to do "just one more thing" moments.

My prediction: budget explorer vessel that is a step up from the Keelback.

Medium Faulcon Delacy

3 seats

SLF capable

Fast

Nice range

Lightly armed (2 medium MCs were visible on the shown model)- this is a nod to the T -6 that has twin small in the ship lineup.

Ship wise, it will be a very fast Keelback with a reasonable cost, excellent for exploration, smuggling and mission running.

I just hope it is fast, half decent range. Proper interceptor style.
Would be nice to have 2 x large and 1 x medium. Relatively weak shields and armour. Not the kind of ship for spending in a combat zone, but brilliant in a skirmish.
SLF.
For me, this would be my perfect ship, tactics and game play!

Yet, we all have an idea of what we want, so I suspect most will be disappointed (unjustly).

the multicannons showsn on the model do not resemeble ANY multicannon used ingame. and for mediums, they are to large.

Its hard to say with certainty, but using these pictures as reference

They don't strike me as being large weapons really, but then looking at the Vulture anythings possible. It certainly would be an interesting layout (two large).

did you notice that the rendered and the wireframe model do not match perfectly?

and tbh, i expect two large hardpoints on the topside, there behind the heatvents.
maybe two large, two meds, and an slf as "arment"

thats because it was the first to begin with :D

the chieftain and the krait didn't had full textures and such,
the Type10 got into a render

so i would say, type10 this year, krait and chieftain Q1 2018

i could only see two hardpoints on the krait... lets hope for some screencaps soon

3 medium and 2 large would work for me. And Alliance ranked of course.
