Frontier cant deliver.

Interesting. Forgive the possibly daft question, but does that only apply to mice/keyboard controls, or to any? PS4 I'm using the PS4 controller, PC I'm using a Warthog.

I have that issue on my M&K laptop,
haven't played with joysticks lately.
Of course it will remove the utility of quickly
looking at panels in VR and with head-tracking
to my understanding of the binding.

Not a problem for me as I don't use them. Thanks for the info, I'll try and give it a try on the PS4 later.

sounds like those guys are doing it right - EXACTLY right, especially the part about publicly acknowledging the game wouldn't exist without the founders backing.

Unlike another game and developer we all know.

seems I've just found my next destination now that I'm sick of playing planetside 2 (and paid £50 on subs and got essentially nothing.)

the most important excerpt from that writeup:

"We weren’t trying to make a lottery,” Crookes said, looking back on the situation. “That wasn’t the kind of system we wanted in there. We had that out within a day or two. As fast as possible.” They also said they refunded the players the money spent"

Take note Fdev.
I think the biggest thing that helps is the frequent small patches. Users see progress, and the developer feedback loop is much tighter.

There hasn't been a new patch for quite a while now.

more than 1 month to be exact. Last one didn't have any detailed patch notes.

2.2 was Elite's best update. My highest hope for Beyond is that it will amount to about as much as 2.2, but spread out over an entire year. 1.4 was Elite's worst update. My worst-case imagined scenario for Beyond is that it will amount to about as much as 1.4, but spread over an entire year.

It's really hard for me to imagine that Beyond will bring us anything more comprehensive in scope than that.

The last one was part of a series of staged delivery updates AFAIK and now we are into the Beyond part of the announced schedule of delivery, that essentially means that the next major update is probably not going to be for 2-3 months (end of Q1).

2.2 played it safe following the delayed & badly received 2.1 update, gave us high paying passenger missions & the SLF. 1.4 introduced long range missions, the FAS, the iEagle & was the golden era of ED for me at least, finally allowing the opportunity to make money in a more interesting way than just A-B trading. 1.4 also introduced CQC but that is easily ignored (if you don't like it) aside from the scar on the stats dashboard.

@DrewCarnegie

Why, what else is needed for a criticism?

Lots of sugar and whipped cream, cause people can't take it plain, without wasting 100 pointless words of reassurance to get 10 words of criticism in? No idea how we got this far from Sparta, where you need a 10:1 noise to signal ratio or people can't handle it.

You can never make everybody happy no matter how far you bend out of shape. He might as well just keep his spine straight and say what he will.

And there IS no story in Elite, unless they decide to maybe develop Thargoids into a story.

I took a two year break shortly after PP pointlessly got stuffed into the game. Now I will probably do the new mission types, some engineering and try out the Corvette. Then it'll fizzle out and I'll take another 2 Year break. Maybe Chris Roberts gets his stuff together by then, or maybe he doesn't.

It might become my final, indefinite break from computer games alltogether.

Do I really need to explain the difference between constructive criticism and a temper tantrum?

Anyone with a board like that should be locked up and have the key thrown away.

I have liked most of the updates so far as they have all contained something I really liked.

again stations that are attacked during the maintenance. that should be a joke. this is not an appropriate method to tell a story ..... oh, moment, maybe there is no story. frontier can not deliver, or better: frontier does not want to deliver.

I haven't run into any bugs in the game for ages. Not to sure how it is a bug ridden mess.

Message system - Bugged - Says you have x number of new message - Goto Panel.. No messages displayed
Message System - Deletes stored messages without being told to

Combat - Flags you wanted for attacking ships showing as 'Wanted'
Combat - Ships take an age to go from 1% to 0% dead, while going from 100 to 1% takes normal as expected time
Combat - Ships fly off come back with 100% shields.

SuperCruise - Tag a ship in sector, then go back to next system in plotted course leads to destination system target dissappearing

System Jump - System star does not show on ship display

Gameplay - Outrun a ship trying to interdict you, ship magically manages to catch you up at destination.
Gameplay - Outrun and lose a ship trying to interdict you. Ship magically manages to get ahead of you and interdict you at destination

Missions - Scan Missions show destination unreachable, you have to leave planet and re-enter.
Missions - Board occasionally has problems loading missions, can lead to disconnect
Missions - Displays 0 missions, then reload board and it shows lots of missions
Missions - Missions ships that were outrun manage to low wake on top of you < 1km from station, then fly off
Missions - If Target for assassination low-wakes to station and you follow, target disappears and mission fails

Gameplay - Get landing clearance to pad but ship is already on the pad

There are plenty more. These are way more important than any 'story in a USS' rubbish.

Each to their own. I see these as pretty minor. Most games have lots of little bugs in them, they are unavoidable, i'm sure some of these will be fixed in the next update and the next update will probably introduce new ones.

Nothing game breaking in my view and most of those I haven't encountered. Still don't see it as bug ridden, but if that is the case, you might as well say that to virtually every game out there.
