Attacking and Pirating Megaships!

How much do you want a bet this will be game play attached to Squadron Megaships?

PVP raiding is confirmed.

Also, the situation might end up with people thinking, why bother for couple of useless junk. Hopefully, those cargo fiddlings can offer us ALTERNATIVES to get some of the most time consuming grind materials, thus the hassle becomes viable.

With that I agree. Perhaps they could contain crates with rare materials for example to seduce us into criminal activities.
I would not be seduced by a container with uranium, but I can name a few mats I would go pirate for.

As above. Looks really exciting!

A new and exciting game!

A cargo carrying 3-6x or more Modified Emb. Firmware. Imagine that. I would completely do whatever it takes to reach in that box, consequence of going criminal or not would seem tiny as a 15,000ly distance away star looks in comparison.

Just remember this will raise your notoriety. If you then kill a few security ships while doing a number of thefts, then you are likely to get the ATR coming after you, which again makes for interesting and potentially exciting game play as you become a wanted group of fugitives trying to hide from the cops.

Note tho: killing security might delay percussions, but have a heavier 'penalty', than just fighting/delaying them while not killing any.

"That's a big mega-ship! Look at the size of that thing!"
"Who cares? Scan the thing and git da loot!"
"Scanning.....scan complete, Hatch-breakers away!"
"C'mon! The police will be here in 15 seconds! Have u got da loot?!?"
"Its on its way - wait a second, do you hear that?"
"Hear what?"

Nee-Naw Nee-Naw

"This is the ATR! Surrender!"

"Git that loot already!"
"I got it-wait, you were supposed to take out all 3 of the mega-ships cannons!"
"3? I thought there were 2!"
"There were 3! I'm under fire cos you ddin't do your job! 3 cannons! 1 job! You didn't do your one job!""
"Whatever! Re-position! Re-position!"
"Retracting hardpoints now! Let's go! Spinning up Friendship Drive! Spin up yours too! C'mon!"
"This is the ATR! Where the heck do you guys think you're going?"
"Bye ATR!"
"Phew! Were in super-cruise!"
"That was close!"
"We need more loot!"
"Yeah!"
"I was thinking about nicking yours!"
"Wha?!?"

:p

It may therefore encourage pirates to just knock out drives on combat ships rather than blow them up.
This may then see them selecting weapon loadouts and types that suit module sniping.

you get wanted but are more seen as rogues fighting the system than cold blooded killers.

What's all this talk of killing? Surely the tactic will be:

Sidle up to megaship.

Scan.

Paralyse turrets.

Crack a hatch and grab the contents.

RUN!!!

High wake to low security system.

Pay off bounties.

Repeat.

Only thing that matters to me is that the rewards from that piracy are generally better than the rewards for regular transporting of said goods. Risk/Reward and all that. If you have to intercept a massive ship and steal it's content, while becoming wanted and getting hounded by authorities, it better damn well be worth it.

Although it would be REALLY awesome to have some of those megaships travel through Anarchy systems on their way from point A to B. Like I would absolutely not be interested in pirating a megaship in a high sec system, know what I mean?
