What would happen if the Clipper was 100tons lighter?

I've only just noticed that the Imperial Clipper has the same mass as the Conda.
I'm not a fan of the Clipper but love the Conda so I'm not asking for a Conda nerf.
I just wondered what would happen if the Clipper was buffed to be 100t lighter?
What effect would this have on shields and jump range and so forth? I know it would be even more ungodly fast than it is now. But can anybody show me actual numbers? I have no idea how to work this out.

By adding/subtracting modules weighing 50t from my clipper I work out it would be 16m/s faster with 2.5ish extra lyr range.
I don't know about shield strength.
Anyone able to help me out?

Well I was just having a look at my stored ships to see which ones I don't fly that can be stripped to kit out a chieftain.
I've realised what it would take for me to fly the Clipper: a mass reduction of 100t and slightly better shields.
I think I'll just strip an ugly Fed murder brick instead. I'll keep the Clipper out of sympathy.

Just do some passenger missions and you'll be able to buy and A rate as many as you want...

Very true, however when I have flown it it's all plasma with right/left side weapons mapped to their corresponding button.
That's why I call mine 'Awkward Middle Child', the iCourier is great fun to fly and excellent shields for it's size, the Cutter is peerless for bulk moving stuff, the Clipper is meh.

I have 5bln total assets. I just wanted to see what the specs were engineered old system v new system in the beta. So the stuff I have already will carry over in the beta snap shot.

The Python and Anaconda throw off everything else in the game.

The Clipper needs to be lightened 100lbs, and it’s wings shortened to fit on a medium pad - which would also help the hardpoint placement.

The Python would STILL be a better choice of medium ship but the Clipper would then at least be a fun alternative.

I don't think 100lbs would make enough difference! 😀
I really want a shield tank medium Imperial ship though at some point. I can wait.

I use mine mostly for going on material collection runs. Throw in SRV and a few collector limpets and go USS hunting and planetary material farming. It doesn't really have a particular niche like some other ships, but it is fun to fly and I'm addicted to speed.

You could also throw in a long range wake scanner for those ever needed Datamined Wake Exceptions.

You can do all those things with many other ships, but using it for the above gives me an opportunity to use it for something useful, as I do enjoy flying it.

Flown the Clipper a few times, don't own one, Python is better, as someone else said, medium pads.

FD hasn't shown any recent inclination to modify existing ships, last one was the FDL. Players keep asking, no results.

Maybe someone should sticky a permanent plea for all the modifications desired.

You are wrong.

The Anaconda needs to be about 200-400 tonnes heavier.

The Corvette is over twice its mass, and the Cutter is also substantially heavier.

The Anaconda is an anomaly in the Large Pad being so goddamned light.

Heck, its 20 tonnes lighter than a T7, and 1/3 the weight of a T-10.

Well, there's your problem, right there.

For peace of mind, try comparing it with, say, the Fed' ships or the Python (all medium-pad ships) instead, and just go to your happy place whenever you start to think about the weight of the Annie. ;)

We really need a medium imperial combat ship. It just doesn't make sense that the imperial navy wouldn't have any combat focused other than the ieagle. Preferably one with a fighter hanger.

But it's not going to happen anytime soon.

Yes, but each shield has a "min mass." Any ship with a hull mass bellow this mass will have the maximum shield strength multiplier of that generator. So a prismatic (which has a 200% maximum multiplier) with a min mass of 100 would give a 200% shield strength boost to any ship with 100 or less hull mass. This means that effectively to the generator a hull mass of 1 and 100 are the same.

The min mass of a size 7 shield just happens to be around 500 I believe. So any decreases in the clippers hull mass, or increases in it's shield generator's optimal mass, are irreverent to it's shield strength.

Now it would effect the shield strength of a clipper running an undersized shield generator.

So it would improve the effectiveness of a size 6 shield without making much, if any difference, to the size 7? Sounds like a sensible balance thing all round.

Anaconda is like bad Tinder date, she says she weight 50 but she look and moves like 150

But jokes aside it is true , imo Annie should weight 900 , Corvette 750-800 and Cutter can stay as it is :p
