Is ED on life support? A terminal decline?

And it's still counting unique players. You could login everyday over those two weeks, but it will only come up as once on that chart.

It's not how many logins per 2 week, it's how many unique players per 2 weeks. So on steam at the moment, it has had 140,000 unique players play in the last two weeks. How many time they login is irrelevant.

Care to show where is stated that login is unique so if I play every days for 2 week it's only counting one player?

Thanks. I didn't quite realise ED was doing that badly. A review score drop to 52% is truly shocking. That places E:D in the bottom 10% of Steam games.

This does not bode well if the latest price cut to £5 is an indicator of Frontier's new business model. Continuing to put E:D down to £0 (free-to-play) would drive the review score through the floor. And whatever we think about Steam reviews, that would certainly kill almost all sales of the game.
Yes, the game is almost dead now.

If I play one time every day, I count as 24 player in 2 weeks. [smile]

No, you don't.

Is that a tongue I can see in your cheek, sir?

Yes, you can.

LOL!

What amazes me is how some people apparently here have such a short memory for the Frontier claims of past livestreams such as Horizons would be free for the game's early backers (untrue), vanilla game would get looting and crafting (it didn't) etc. etc.

Either a short memory, or they've only recently become Frontier customers and so have yet to learn...
Horizons was free for those owning the LEP and the NEVER said anything else. I'd say you are the one with short memory.

Sounds great to make a statement like that doesn't it? All dramatic and stuff. But it's not true. Can you go find us some links in the archives where there supposedly should be many examples, right? We'll wait right here...

Someone already did post examples, I suggest you read the thread. It was ~30 pages ago.

Click in the graph "Audience (2 weeks)"
It shows the average time per player, therefore it must count players individually. You could also just apply some logic.

I'd say the important bit is how much they play as you might want to get a small pic at the new updates and then possibly wait 6 months till then.

See above, 15 hours per player in two weeks doesn't look like that.

Yeah - ED is dying... er... wait a minute... how come the steam stats look like global temperatures (i.e. the hockey stick) Is there some sort of conspiracy?

Of course, this is only counting steam players that are running with the steam client open and connected. It does not count the greater number of players who purchased Elite Dangerous directly from Frontier... The last two years appears to be pretty consistent to my eye.

Well, not everyone plays every day or even every week. I have only fires up the engines on my ship once in the last 2 weeks and that was just for an hour. Been busy with family stuff.

All your information about the different table can be found here:

Actually that's biggest hurdle for me as well - ED isn't something I want to fire up for 1 hour, I want to play 2 - 3 hours, but that time comes now and then.

As NYE closes near, I just want to say thank you to all trolls and naysayers who want to see ED to die - this thread his re-affirmation for me. And not even 'I know ED will stick around so I don't worry way'. More like...

I enjoy ED. I enjoy this community. If it will end one day, it will, and nothing much I could do about it. But I love game, I am amazed by amount of work put into it by very talented people which I admire.

There comes things in life and you think it is all a downer. And then you realize, that not really, there are lot of amazing things in my life, and not just personal.

Thank you everyone for making this amazing year for ED. Aliens...man, aliens! Lately knowing I can play so rarely I have been soaking up every minute of it.

Enjoy yourselves commanders.

Wow, a lot of people get passionate about a thread like this.

If the game is good enough it will survive, if not it wont. I dont have shares in the company so I dont care.

Plenty of good games out there.

Thanks.

While I am not sure the account is counted only one time, going to give the benifits of the doubt. [smile]

It says the owners who have played the game in the last 2 weeks. It specifically says that. It does not state how many time you start up the game in that time frame. That will be a different metric if it exists.
