Mode switching for missions and Smeaton Orbital [200mill/hour]

Hello commanders,

As some of you are aware, Passenger Bulk missions are currently generating extremely high credit rewards that we feel are excessive of what we would consider reasonable and balanced.

After a detailed investigation, we can confirm that this is due to an element in our mission generation algorithm that rewards credits based on the distance of the destination system from the star.

Due to this, we will be disabling (until further notice) the aforementioned element of Passenger Bulk missions to reduce the amount of credits offered as a reward. Commanders will still be able to select and complete Passenger Bulk missions, but will see less excessive credit rewards.

In the meantime, we will be reviewing the Passenger Bulk missions and correct the previously mentioned element – hopefully in time for you to test in the Beyond Chapter One beta.

Thanks to all the players who reported the issue.

Really nice how you can address that but can't do anything about mission timers that take 30 mins off the posted time on the board as soon as you take one.

"Sorry guys, we designed it that way, but didn't know what we were doing... we didn't really mean to do that."

So it goes

Great work

Pull the other one.

Sure, if you've only been playing ED for 6 months you might not know any better but the combination of menu-flipping and the payments for long-distance missions weren't any kind of balance for anything.

lol Stealthie, I don't expect any less than negativity when I see your name.

Just keep going then.
Don't quit the game, because that's when it will update.

Thing is my laptop shutdown about an hour ago whilst parked up (over heated) so have restarted and it's good still.
I'll keep going till it's bust then move onto the engineers stuff. Plenty of the to get through before the next update - got invites to Juri and Bill.

----ah---- just seen why I had 50 tons of bromelite in my cargo before starting these runs (had lots of months off) - dumped the lot of it. Will swap out some cabins for cargo as I've seen some missions rewrding in bromelite.

Add a little Nitrous to the life-support system, that’ll shut ‘em up.

Thinking they'd all like a bit of Onionhead

*sniff*

All good/ bad things comes to an end. It was unbalanced. Now people will not feel other activities are worthless as far as credits are concerned.

Working as intended

I thought due to the effort and time this took, that this was always working as intended. Why change it now when the payment is in-line with other money making ventures? It's not like we were making millions more per hour than other people, because we weren't.

I do tons of challenging and risky stuff all the time, in playing the BGS. Some of that doesn't pay at all, but just costs me credits.

You are affected.... how exactly by me periodically replenishing my balance at a credit cow?

Again I can only answer for myself (hope you don't mind me jumping in). My main point for playing is by trying to maximise my profits. I WANT to be rewarded for finding high paying gold rush missions but equally I want it to be a challenge.
It seems obvious to me but so many don't seem to get it :(. Take a racing game... Of course I want to "win" and want to earn as much money as I can..... But despite that I always play with the same rules..... as simulatory as possible. IF I crash I want the car to be damaged and I want it to hurt repairing it. I want the race to be hard to win, I DONT strip the game down so I win with my eyes closed and amass millions.
The issue with ED is there are no difficulty sliders because we are all in the same game.
You are not wrong for wanting to earn 50,million an HR in a T6. But frost or myself are not wrong for wanting 50 million to take 25 hrs to earn either (for arguments sake) but then have really short lived gold rushes that we guard very closely if we find them and try to exhaust them.

But can you not see how deliberately trying not to earn money is not the answer ? (I don't know what IS the answer... I just put my views on here and see what folk and FD think

What else paid anything remotely close to passenger trading?

Will... the problem is not mission payout but board hopping as well as the fact payout & mission availability elsewhere is relatively poor. Board hopping itself has become a necessary mechanic not only in high paying mission areas but in places you're not at least allied to get any form of reasonable CR or rep paying mission.

You can't just nerf something and expect the problem to be fixed, there needs to be gains across the board to balance it out.

We are headed to the point where the only profitable activity will be not to play.

That is not true... A cobra costs what 350k to buy and can be fully A rated for 10 million.
I do t stack and have never ever been near these high paying missions other than to try and see what folk are on about (and then I blew the money earned by donating to my mate) and yet despite that my total assets count is about 1billion. This is with me sticking to every rule in the book to slow progress down (never sell a ship, never strictly a ship for cash).
Money earning in game has never been easier
