About all the dissatisfaction of the playerbase...

Oddly, I have the "big 3" and can buy whatever I like but have been spending most of my time for the last several months in my iCourier, iClipper, or 'Winder (all nicely engineered). Been having a great deal of fun back in the smaller more maneuverable ships (and they punch above their weight which is nice).

I am really looking forward to test flying the Chieftain. Could be my new go to.

If the new Crime and Punishment system works the way they are saying it will, it may make Open viable for PvE again. It will take into account the cost of the Pirate's ship as well as your own, and should be a good deterrent to griefing IMO.

I don't play in Open for the reasons you mentioned. But there are alternatives...Mobius is a good one.

As basic and predictable as this may sound... I think everyone who is griping and complaining about this, that and the other needs to take a TIME OUT!

Either put the game up and play something else for a while, or permanently uninstall the game and move on.

Most of the stuff everyone always complains about is never going to change in any significant way. If you choose a grindy path in ED, then a grindy path is what you will get. If you choose to play for fun and not worry about how much $$ the other guy has, or whatever other aspect has zero impact on you then you WILL HAVE FUN.

If that last part rings hollow, then I do think you need to find another game.

I resent the implication that just because I have a billion credits (and more than that in assets) that I exploited may way there. I may have taken a few long haul missions in the past, but I enjoyed those and was already pretty wealthy by then. For the most part my vast, unobtainable fortune was made by working CGs, bounty hunting and just plain doing missions. Nothing any one of you couldn't do yourself. Sprinkle in some time and patience any one of you can be wealthy.

This reminds me of the time someone was on the forum complaining that anyone that had access to Founder's had an unfair advantage. I was not a backer, I earned that, like I earned everything else I have in the game. Not gifted, not cheated, not exploited anything that everyone else has the same access to.

You know what I think as I'm sitting in one of my Cutters waiting for the mail slot to clear as a "competent" (or less) Cutter comes in? I get better missions. lol

You find another game! ;-)

Seriously though. I actually laugh when someone says "it's not for you", "go find another game" so on and so on.

It's like the ultimate vanity.

the long haul missions were far from broken. You could fail all the missions from being scanned once, fought interdictions the whole way, and we're making something like 120 mil in an hour and a half, which is about on par for the thargoid samples currently. Frontier just accepted feedback from wherever/whomever keeps spamming terrible ideas at them

How so?

If someone spends every waking hour up on a game forum complaining about how much they HATE the game, and how this sucks, and that blows, and this exploit is ruining their immersion etc. etc. etc.

What advice would you give them? Other than the one of two options I suggested?

I'll never understand all the complaining about credit-farming nerfs. Credits are ridiculously easy to get, just bulk trading will make you a billionaire pretty quickly, to say nothing of passenger missions. It seems like if they nerf something that people learned how to do from YouTube, a lot of folks just seem unable to figure out how to make money.

lol

I'd probably advise them to not let anyone re-frame their reality and to do whatever they felt was prudent.

Proabably down to it being a game and it not affecting anyone else in any real way what-so-ever.

Don't let it bother you. Those comments are rooted in a deep envy/jealousy of what you have accomplished through a ton of hours of gameplay and focus on playing smart. That is how most of us become billionaires several times over in this game.

The whiners who want everyone's earnings taken away are too lazy to earn that kind of wealth in the game themselves, so they have to invent some crazy narrative in their confused little brains for why you have all that stuff and they don't.

Any time I read comments like that, I imagine an 8 year old child throwing a temper tantrum in the middle of a toy store.

Don't need to know WHY they are throwing a temper tantrum in public. The fact that they are is all the information I need. ;)

I didn't call anyone stupid.
Im suggesting that frontier is taking feedback that affects open play from people that are anti-pvp, and progression tips from people that ENJOY abysmally slow progression.
Im saying frontier is only taking in feedback from players that are both vocal, a minority, and have adverse opinions on pvp and fast(er) progression.

Interestingly, of all the 'YOU are a minority, no YOU are!' pettiness, the only thing FD ever commented on was that PvP is a very small minority. You may want to remember that. :)

Yep, I made most of my credits trading (not missions) and exploration. Straight up you're correct.

I often get the impression you get an immense sense of personal pride out of being a billionaire in a computer game, and feel that everyone is envious of you. From one fake billionaire to another: noone cares.

I agree with this. Credits are really not that hard to get. Grinding rank is more annoying. However, I think they are about to fix that in the expansion as well.

it doesn't matter how much money anyone else has because nothing you do in the game really matters.

Now that's the root of an issue many players have. That they dont really matter. They can't matter. Even if you got a bunch of players and coordinated as a group, you only matter if Fdev makes you matter over the course of server resets to make what you're doing impact the game. Otherwise, everything you can do simply gets undone either in time or by a couple interested parties.

Money doesn't really play into it after a point and that point is easily reached in a few days from starting a new account.

I wish money mattered, because that would mean the things i can do with it matters. Not the case though.

This was true when the game was first released, before missions were implemented and every other week a new way to make hundreds of millions an hour was found.

Chuckle.

Good job it's all subjective then, eh!

Speaking objectively of course.

Well... I just feel it is counterproductive and unhealthy to bang your head against a proverbial wall day in and day out. The logical course of action would be to shut down the source, the cause that leads to the head banging.

:)

What dissatisfaction?
While I am vehemently dissatisfied with powerplay, in general I must agree with this sentiment.

In general, on the greater scope of this game - I cannot see most of the player base dissatisifeid with most of this game.

Pieces, and parts of it? Sure, but not enough to warrent much of what this OP is asking for.
