Since "Beyond" is now apparently Elite Dangerous 3.0 what exactly am I getting for my LEP?

Basically as others have said. There's going to be "premium content," for LEP owners and obviously the rest of us will pay for it.

However, it's not clear what this content is going to be. Is it ships, special paint jobs...whatever it could be anything. And I think this is what has some LEP owners questioning. They want clarification on what exactly the premium content is going to be. And I don't think that's an unreasonable request at all.

People just want to know if it will be a substantial feature on par with a major update, I think. They don't have to be specifically told what it is.

Fail to understand why others are attacking those asking this question.

Its not unreasonable request, but LEP never advertised that owners will get advance notification of any content in plans or to be released.
It simply stated that if anything happens to be released you will get it for free. It didn't even make promises that something will keep to be released or in what amount or for how long. It was a bit of "mystery box purchase" in lot of respects.

Oh someone asks very reasonably about the elephant in the room. Quick lets tell him that its a ten year plan so he must wait until 3311 lol.
Lets all forget that horizons "season" lasted for.. lets put it this way: frontier's 4 seasons of a year, doesnt exactly last for one sol year. More like 2 sol years. In that rate.. good luck in getting paid content for free, worthy of the money you have spent.
It's just a matter of time spent waiting for it really. You'll get it eventually. Frontier are doing very well as a company and only getting stronger, I wouldn't expect them to go bankrupt any time soon if at all so there's nothing to worry about there in my opinion. I'd much sooner be worried about the poor buggers who invested in Star Citizen :)

Well, the LEP owners have been told they're getting premium content. They've had that advance notification.

I think people are just concerned it won't be anything substantial is all. Which is fair enough.

Can't expect Frontier to reveal that however, I don't think they can anyway because of their business model. Makes you understand people's plight on this matter though.

Everyone should know how this works by now, they'll tell us closer to releasing something or wait until a con to reveal things. For now, they have said there will be paid content. As to how substantial it will be... really, what difference does it make, you'll get it for what you've already paid and then next premium update and the next premium update. They aren't showing any signs of shutting the game down so those who invested will get their prize.

I'd suggest that if people are really that concerned, maybe don't purchase lifetime passes, especially when they could shut it down tomorrow with services completely rendered. Sure, you may like them less, but that's how lifetime passes have always worked.

If that is the case they can complain at that time, until then all we know is that there will be paid content too. FD ain't gonna tell what it is no matter how many times people ask.

I wouldn't be surprised if they're looking at ways to monetize squadrons, especially player owned carriers. Sandro's own words, "We're going to allow squadrons to purchase their own fleet carriers". He never explicitly said purchased using in-game currency :) It would make sense too since squadrons / carriers was never a feature of Horizons, so with a new feature comes new purchasable add-ons. Give the base feature of squadrons away for free (create/join, message board, etc.), then offer purchasable add-ons "to enhance your experience". Who knows, maybe we'll also get the option to buy starports and planetary bases! Take my moolah!

Wouldn't this fall under the proviso of pay-to-win? That's something FDev have stated repeatedly they would not do.

On a more serious tack I'd hazard a guess atmospheric planetary landing will be pay to own content. My LEP'll be all good ;)

Who knows? I though the Thargoid content and what's now being called Squadrons would be premium, easily compartmentalised content.
We don't even know that atmospheric landings are definitely coming, Sandro said it was 'something we could do' a while back.

I'd like to know what's going on, what's changed & what's being worked on, as we used to. The lack of information frustrates me.

Now I don't know if this has been raised before but I remember them saying there would be stages of "updates" free of charge but that there would be new paid content post 2.4 so I was surprised to note that this beta is for v3.0 of Elite Dangerous. Therefore I am wondering exactly what we LEP purchasers are going to receive this "season / whatever" in return for our not inconsiderable (in my case anyway) outlay?
You'll get three complimentary Materials Booster Packs when they add them to the store.

Yeah! They can complain later - whenever that is - when and if they get *something* if that something turns out to be not very good. They certainly have no business complaining now, when they're not getting *anything*.

There's a lot of hostility here towards a reasonable question, that has been asked in a polite manner.

In answer to the question, Frontier have said they will be releasing paid-for content this year that will be covered by the Lifetime Pass...

I lost confidence in Frontier long ago when it comes to promises. There is a history of shafting those who supported them or behaving in a shady way. Never a 'sorry guys, we've not been able to fulfill this due to x' and here is a gesture of goodwill by offering y. Take the DDF for example, and those NGLPs.. Or the singleplayer game. I've never really minded that these things weren't delivered but what I do find grubby is the stonewalling.

So some nebulous suggestion that there will be something coming that is paid for really doesn't inspire much confidence. What perplexes me over what is a continuing set of behaviors is that it seems so needless to upset folks when it would cost them nothing to resolve all of these matters.

Given the history and the behavior how can I or others not have a negative view?
