Since "Beyond" is now apparently Elite Dangerous 3.0 what exactly am I getting for my LEP?

Now that you mention it, cheese, sausage, and beer are prime expansions to Elite: Dangerous. Unfortunately, they aren't ones I get at no additional cost.

Maybe you should remember that those of us who back the kickstarter and pledged support by preordering content, including the LEP, and spent silly money on meaningless cosmetic items are the reasons you go to play the game for $30 on your console.

You're welcome.

So now the rest of us paying full price owe you something. Neat.

Everyone should know how this works by now, they'll tell us closer to releasing something or wait until a con to reveal things. For now, they have said there will be paid content. As to how substantial it will be... really, what difference does it make, you'll get it for what you've already paid and then next premium update and the next premium update. They aren't showing any signs of shutting the game down so those who invested will get their prize.

I'd suggest that if people are really that concerned, maybe don't purchase lifetime passes, especially when they could shut it down tomorrow with services completely rendered. Sure, you may like them less, but that's how lifetime passes have always worked.

If that is the case they can complain at that time, until then all we know is that there will be paid content too. FD ain't gonna tell what it is no matter how many times people ask.

If they are concerned about it they should not have paid for something without clearly outlined obligation in the first place.

So, people have a right to ask questions about a purchase they made. The answer isn't just "oh they shouldn't have bought it."

As I've said people are concerned. They have to wait yes, there's going to be no changing that. But that doesn't mean people are suddenly going to be fine with it. Horizons took 2 years to drop all updates, and let's be honest we've not had any substantial improvements or additions to the game in that time (don't get me wrong I love Elite, but I'm not blind to the shortcomings). Hence why we're getting the Beyond series of updates to help flesh the game out and hopefully improve these features. But, you can't just wave away people's concerns in regards to their LEP because there's a lot more to it than simply "I want more content, tell me about it now."

That's why I've said the hostility towards the OP is very much uncalled for. Some people really need to take a step back and stop vehemently defending Frontier Developments in regards to peoples valid concerns.

He paid the asking price set by FD, he doesn't have to thank anybody..
If you're saying "but without us the game wouldn't have existed", then so what ?
We wouldn't even have this discussion and all be playing something else.

Why the need for an insult? I said I looked and there was nothing at all about 3.0 being the release of "Beyond".

Ed and Sandro announced that Beyond was season 3 on one of the live streams. At the expo, it was kind of presented as an extension of Horizons (which technically it is). It think it's just an Frontier renumbering thing.

Maybe subscribing to a YouTube channel like ObsidianAnt's would help you keep up to date on all things Elite: Dangerous.

Watching earlier ones would have answered all your questions I think.

I am not sure that I should have to sit through ObsAnt's vids to learn stuff and I didn't see any mention of "season 3" of the F D streams (well I watched them after they had been posted on that tube thingie). During the Expo and the rest about "the roadmap beyond" - there was no mention of it being season 3.

I reiterate, I am not complaining, I am happy that the current update is free to all, I just was expecting this update to be 2.5 and so seeing it was 3.0 made me wonder if any mention had been made of what to expect in the upcoming paid content - presumably season 4.0 or whatever they want to call it now. I certainly wasn't complaining about the amount of money I spent on the LEP (I spend vastly more on flight sim stuff) it was mentioned only as a point of reference.

I don't think it was an unreasonable question and certainly didn't need the abusive nonsense that followed from some people who either didn't read what I wrote or were just looking for an excuse to spew some bile.

Yeah, people being confused about future of ED beyond Beyond (pun intended) is normal thing. FD is very hush hush about premium/paid for DLC content and while I understand reasons behind it, it is just normal for people asking for clarity.

I hope FD will reveal more info around E3 and other summer trade shows so we have more information about what's in future.

I didn't think I personally was being insulting. However, this subject is brought up a lot by a lot of detractors (some of whom don't even have the LEP) and it seems that we go over the same ground again and again...

You are quite right, the impression I had at the expo was Beyond was going to be 2.5 and 2.6. But it announced in the Live Streams (but don't ask me the exact time stamps) because we discussed it on Lave Radio a couple of weeks ago of our surprise that they had gone to 3.0.

I think it was an entirely reasonable question to ask. I do watch OA's videos so I was up to speed and comfortable with the situation, but I don't expect this should be necessary.
Personally I got my LEP for about £35 during Beta, which I'm obviously very happy about as that amounts to full-price for Horizons and everything after that is gravy. If I had paid £120 I think that I too would be asking questions 2 years later.

Having taken that chance though, I am happy to be in for the 10 year long game. If we've got Atmospheric planets and space legs by then, it will be cheap indeed.

I didn't think I personally was being insulting. ......0.

Oh I was not referring to you or Dooguk (who I had also quoted) - I thought it was clear that my last sentence referred to earlier posts and not the ones I was commenting on in the first sentence. My apologies if that was not clear.

Just to chime in here, I missed the £35 LEP by one day  ... so I paid £50 for the premium beta in 2014 and then £120 for the LEP when it came out again on 2015.

But since most games I play retail around the £30-£40 price, and many people buy one or two such games each year, I reckoned I only need to get three free expansions during the life of the game to break even.

So far we've had Horizons, so I only need two more "freebie" and I'm a happy camper.

Mind you, I'm not "unhappy" since I've been played since premium beta in 2014 and, so far, it's been an awesome experience.
The money's spent and if my extra cash injection has helped FD, then so much the better.

Keep up the good work, FD !!

The premium beta of 2014 has the LEP in it.

Since "Beyond" is now apparently Elite Dangerous 3.0 what exactly am I getting for my LEP?

Now I don't know if this has been raised before but I remember them saying there would be stages of "updates" free of charge but that there would be new paid content post 2.4 so I was surprised to note that this beta is for v3.0 of Elite Dangerous. Therefore I am wondering exactly what we LEP purchasers are going to receive this "season / whatever" in return for our not inconsiderable (in my case anyway) outlay?

My ObsidianAnt suggestion was purely because all the info anybody requires, is packaged into easy to understand, well titled videos.

This isn't the first time the question has been asked. You aren't going to get an answer until there is an answer. It's a typical "Nothing to reveal at the moment". For me, it's less about waving you away, more about saving you time and energy. Nothing about the LEP entitles anyone to any content or information until it is actually available. A season pass is even safer to invest in than a LEP. You were never even guaranteed the game was going to launch when it was initially purchased.
