Dove Enigma UA bombed, preventing completion of its voyage in time for the man it was named for.

That's what I'm getting at, did anyone bother to check if he actually wants any of this? Or do a significant bunch of people feel that because someone is sick they need swaddling? Total speculation, but I'm willing to bet a lot of the supporters I've seen are the kind of people who, when they find out someone is sick, start treating them as less. Speaking slowly and loudly as if they're deaf, asking them if they need things that a child would. Or demanding special rules in video games, as many have. If the dude wants special rules, then whatever makes him happy is the way to go. Concern for cancer dude's wishes is sparse in these threads, it seems the majority is a selfish outrage. Nothing gets the blood pumping like righteous internet anger that requires no responsibility.

You're coming in after the fact though... regardless of any of that... what you have here, are people who would even TRY to do something harmful in the only way within their capacity to someone with cancer.

Analogy:

Someone breaks into someone's house, with the intent to steal their stuff, shoot them in the face, etc. They write a letter admitting intent ahead of time. They are incredibly forthcoming about their desire to harm others, or even specifically their target. They get the wrong house, that house is empty, no one is there, there's nothing to steal, etc.

Technically "no harm was done..."

I'm still going to do everything in my power to oppose that person.

Lol this has got so many people riled up into a salt frenzy over a game 

No mate, we're riled up over trying to hurt someone suffering from cancer. Keep up.

Oh dear, and I was just about to open the engineer that requires Meta-Alloys.

I suppose when I get to Darnielle, all the MA's will be gone from people taking on long range missions to counteract this issue.

With all due respect, there might be a group out there intent on sabotaging what should have been a enjoyable potential final trip for a cmdr, we have no idea how many want to sabotage this.

What it has now turned into is a mad rush to counter the mindless actions of an anonymous group that could be working in solo or a console platform. All because a dev might have innocently included a black market when not necessary, does that sound right to you?

Yes I could get trucking, cancel the million things I have to do in real life tomorrow before I fly abroad, but shouldn't this be looked into by the devs? Was a black market requested, why was a ship commissioned to honour a CMDR given a black market?

This is a game, I think exceptions should be made in certain circumstances. The fact that the devs drop assets into the game every Thursday firmly states that this is not reality ladies and gentlemen. didn't the devs mess up the burning stations recently? Those stations wen't into repair? And didn't a Bar CQC asset appear in game before the CG had finished. Devs are probably overworked, no idea what's going on at the ground level half the time.

Yeah I know it's a game. I'd quite like to counter this game mechanic with another one. It's a game thing ;)

Thank god we have brave players like you to stem the tide of toxic behavior in Elite!

Considering that I didn't participate in this at all other than laughing at you lot from the sidelines, I'm relieving myself of all responsibility!

Fair enough but my point still stands. In this particular case, you can certainly sit back and have a laugh.

I'm not criticising people being riled up, I'm criticising the people who patronise and demean. People who claim that others are grotesque, while wishing torment and death on other posters. I said that a few times. Take your own advice, keep up?

What threat? What language? "twit" and "idiot"? That's an absurd level of oversensitivity even by the childish standards of these boards.

I bite my thumb at thee, sir!

I am still at a loss to correlate the difference between the "Victorian Era" level of decorum insisted on by Frontier in their forums and their "Wild West, Anything Goes" standards in the actual game.

I have never been able to wrap my head around this ridiculous double standard.

Pick one Frontier! If the game is going to allow despicable acts to be committed with no threat to the perpetrators, then remove these idiotic language filters and let the four letter words fly!

You really can't have both and be taken seriously.

It's time to finally remove UA bombing. Since its inception it served no role except being a griefer tool.

Griefer tool?

Are we now developing games to suit individual circumstances? If so this is going to become a really bland game really quickly.

Just be thankful FDev even do players the honour of an in-game tribute, work with them on this and if it goes awry fix it.

My heart goes out to the CMDR in question, but if you really care quit gnashing your teeth here and get jumping.

Yeah, Darnielle's will probably be getting low on MAs soon. The operation to repair the megaship has already started and MAs are enroute. We'll need a lot of them though. The barnacles will yield a lot of them and we can gather MAs faster than the griefers can gather UAs (TSs).

We require about 2500 MAs at the moment, but more bombs are probably on the way.

Just bumped into this, read the first page of posts, and came to this last page.

I just wanted to chime in that I don't think we should be crying to FDev to resolve acts like this. It's exactly things like this that will make our community come to life (and make headlines if dramatic enough).

The community coming together to counteract the issue is what we should be doing. It's a virtual terrorist act, and our response will dictate how many more "freedoms" the simulation will grant us.

I may not be able to get out there to help in time in my current state. But, I wish you all the best of luck in resolving this matter as a community and helping in making something magnificent of a player created narrative. :)

Mate, anyone who finds it funny or amusing to "mess with" someone who has cancer under ANY circumstances using ANY tools available to them is disgusting and grotesque. Full stop.

The station has been there for almost three weeks - that's long enough for the group size to be as small as "one".

I agree with what you are saying, but do you not think it was a bad choice putting a black market on the ship?
It's pretty standard for orbital facilities in the Colonia region. Not all of them, but most have one - I'd guess the facilities template was just copied from the standard one.

(And maybe obvious in hindsight, but no-one at all figured it out in advance or they could have preemptively sold meta-alloys there 20 times faster than anyone could drop UAs off, and we wouldn't be having this conversation)

I just got there - supply is currently 1,386
