Dove Enigma UA bombed, preventing completion of its voyage in time for the man it was named for.

This was NOT a legitimate in-character act of aggression. There's nothing legitimate about this.

This is an obvious case of harassment: a real person dying of cancer. A real person. There are no in-game excuses for this. No in-character reason for it. They did it to troll a dying man and the community; they did it for the giggles and for the real-life infamy, to hurt people on a personal level.

It doesn't matter that the mechanics exist in the game, what matters is the INTENT. They did it on purpose to harm human beings, not video game characters.

It's low. It's despicable. No excuses. The trolls must be banned, period.

You are so right and this game would be much better off without those pathetic children in it.

No outrage here, just candid observations and yes, judgment. Beyond that, the rest is in the eye of the beholder.

There's no anger - just the observation that you don't need to look at people's in-game actions all the time to get their measure. They will explain their measure to you happily. There's no projection just observation.

Here’s the controversial part: why should his illness matter? If he hadn’t told you, you wouldn’t know. It doesn’t impact his game. It might impact his commitment to the game on a long term but at the same time why should people treat him differently?

Because it was the whole point of all of this, obviously.

lol.
and you wonder why people do it, there is more salt in this thread than the dead sea.
the effort to salt ration in UA bombing is outstanding, why do you think people do it.

my mother died of bone cancer, after 5 long and hard years. i was 9, and barely remember her healthy.

then my wife died of a rarely slow lung cancer, aged 37 and after another 5 terrible years leaving me with 2 kids.

i'm not even going to enumerate all my other relatives who i have seen painfully die.

the last thing i and my family would have wanted is a bunch of strangers on the internet making a show of it. this kind of frivolous social media trash behavior didn't even exist back then. i can not wrap my head around that mentality, but to each their own, this guy and his family still deserve all my respect.

neither would i have wanted a multi million dollar company making a promo out of it and calling it 'emergent content'. holy crap.

i just came to say this, and that the self righteous mob mentality displayed in this thread is no less disgusting than the very ua bombing of that ship.

just so you know and can all promptly add me to your ignore lists, kos, or whatever you have. nothing lost.

Just out of interest, how can you transport 100 UAs over a distance of 20k ly? My Pleiades Conda has 8 CRCRs, so 16 corrosive things at a time, but even considering lots of AFMUs and synthesis, that would be a daunting task and take weeks.

O7,
[noob]

Legit question, I've no idea.

Nah, its cohesive. Nontheless, if he really wanted to keep his health issues to himself, he wouldn't have exposed himself to such a broad audience, humanity sometimes is a ****.

"There's no anger"?

Please help me understand how that makes sense in the context of this thread.

In the context of you saying it's just people projecting because they're angry.

There's no anger based projection needed to read how people have been about this.

lol. the salt to effort ratio is outstanding.
if people stopped flipping out every time someone did something lulzy it wouldent be worth it.
but here yall are, having a good cry about an internet spaceship.
if you wanna do something constructive maybe haul MA instead of giving the UA bomber exactly what they want.
and to the bomber o7o7o7o7o7

Oh. Right. Wait so.. wh.. I'm confused.

Edit: read the source thread. So it's a mega ship, that's not moving, and we are 2 days away from a server tick that would potentially reset it's facilities anyway? Am I missing something? Is the ship moving, or not, and what impact has the UA event actually caused? I'm not wading through 30 pages to work this out. Sorry. So if anyone can help me. :/

I'm pretty sure the coming server tick will only fix Dove Enigma if enough meta-alloys are delivered beforehand. You can try waiting until after the tick if you can't get to Colonia before Thursday. If the megaship ends up being fixed, then you won't need to go yourself, and if it's not fixed, then you'll have a full week to make a contribution.

But Dove Enigma is definitely not moving. There about a dozen total dockable megaships in the game, and of those only The Gnosis moves around from week to week. Dove Enigma was put in place as a stationary memorial.

As for the impact of UA bombing, all it really does is disable certain station services. You can still dock with a station that has been UA bombed. And even if no one delivers any meta-alloys to a station that has been UA bombed, it will repair itself automatically after several weeks; what meta-alloys do is speed up the repair process.

Word has come in that Dove Enigma has been restored to full working order. I'm still on my way though. 512t of MAs.

oh boi, ima sit this one out.
but im betting there's a thousand UA inbound right now. regardless of who wins this its going to be extremely lulzy

The best way to deal with problems is to either solve them or not being too affected by them, for real I reccomend you calm down and think some more.

I'm not one in real life to turn a blind eye to bullies. I've read the thread and I've thought about the situation, but there are certain posters in this thread acting very reprehensibly. It's not a matter of calmness but one of respect for people. The usual griefing situations are normally met with the cries of "it's just a game" or "it's allowed", but this case is different. This time it's not just a game, it's much more than that.

I wish I could do more to solve this "problem". I wish the game wasn't designed to empower griefers to negatively impact other people. I wish other people weren't so intent on spreading misery and malcontent. I wish Frontier wasn't so willing to allow it. "Thinking more" isn't going to accomplish anything, this debate has gone round and round for many years now in countless threads of huge proportions in the Elite community. Thinking hasn't gotten us anywhere, nor has calmness. Maybe this is the time for the opposite of calmness. Maybe it's time to stand up for what's right instead.

Maybe.

That's not what I've been saying at all.

Please review my posts, and I'll be happy to clarify if there continues to be a misunderstanding.
