Chieftan Only For Alliance CMDRs

Well obviously all the plebs feel entitled and will make some noise; but at this point I think we need to discuss how to keep out the riff raff.

Obviously The Alliance is open to anyone and we don't have ranks and very few permit systems so how should we do this?

Personally I think a historical pledge time to Fat Eddie of maybe uh twenty weeks might be a sufficient barrier to entry. But then there's more to The Alliance than pledging.

For instance sculling a pint of Guinness on comms from Dublin citadel in Gateway. Or donating a bottle of Jamesons to Schlack, Dav and Vectron.

Maybe dropping off a care package for that pilot that Turner Research Group has locked up out in Mahon Research Base. I heard he's on a hunger strike.

Anyway if you've got any practical ways to keep all the Aisling pledges from getting their hands on our lovely Chieftan - I'm all ears.

Maybe something like needing a hundred points on the old "How Alliance are you?" scale.
You know - a point for each week pledged.
A point for each Alliance minor faction you're allied with.
A handful of points for the Alioth permit.
A handful for G5 access with Todd The Blaster.
Maybe having to contribute at a CG.

Something.

I'm going to be very disappointed if it comes in any colour except green.

Nah... You can keep it. With only 5 internal slots available it's good for next to nothing, I prefer the Python for a mid sized combat capable ship. The Shields on the Chieftain suck too with only a class 5 max slot. I modded up a Chieftain and was very underwhelmed by it!

Tell you what, go dunk it in your tea cup... It might wash off some of that Goid caustic... [haha]

That Chieftain is going to make an EPIC hybrid (with ZERO utility, natch, lol). If it had better shield values it would be too op as a pure combat vessel.

Your entitled to your opinion!

Not really an opinion, it's got enough slots to make 3500 armor and hit DR on resists as well as 2 MRPs and a biweave which is up again in 45 secs (its small shield makes it great as a hybrid). It's a hybrid builders dream as we also value agility. I can't wait to see if it's going to be even better than the FAS (which I think it will be, because of hardpoints and better nominal shield values).

By your metric, the FAS is even worse, and it's currently arguably the best combat ship in the game, so... ;)

You ever built a hybrid? If not, you should, they're great fun. Shield down? no problem, it'll be back in a sec! ;)

Check out the recharge on this baby...

My shield goes down at 2:06 and is back up at 2:35 from dead (29 seconds!!). Chieftain should be able to do this as well, which combined with its agility and significantly higher speed than the FGS, is going to make it a flipping great hybrid.

I'm in for lock all ships tbh.... but by commanders ranks and not that stupid Alliance/Empire/ Federation .

That would resolve lots of complains about 1 week commanders in Anacondas as well.

It is or this... or nothing .... there is already plenty of restrictions on some hardware in game.

Go right ahead, dude. You can have my Vulture. The "Lucky Bat" has been good, but I ain't got no stinking rank-locked ships.
Jeeze, Louise - every ship in my fleet is even parked at a significant Alliance system.

You see that Clipper? You know WHY it's called "Arissa's Mistake"?
I don't got no stinking Empire rank - I got that thing when Arissa held a CG to have her new palace curtained with the skins of a million slaves for her coronation. I don't trade slaves. But you do. And when it hit tier 5 she let everyone buy a Clipper at a discount and without rank. I don't think she intended us in the Alliance to get access without contributing to the CG. But her mistake - hence the name.

Here's a video of me "thanking" Arissa for the privilege.
100 tons of biowaste right in Dawe's Hub.

Thats how I got my negative Empire rep.

repped, of course, but had to add special virtual rep for putting "The Devil Made Me Do It" by Paris underneath that video. Guerilla Funk, y'all

To own a Chieftan you must:

Own 'I heart Thargoids' plush toy

Like green

Eat organic muesli

Own a Casiko wristwatch

Hate the number '104%'

Ok, I don't have a plushie, but I have argued the case for being nice to our insectoid friends, does this help?

I do like green.

I have on at least one occasion eaten organic muesli, though personally I prefer a nice bowl of porridge or toast with marmalade.

I have never heard of Casiko, but I have owned and indeed currently own a Casio wristwatch (remind me to get a new battery for it)

Hate is strong word but I can agree to a certain degree of towards the number 104%. It's trying too hard and not quite achieving.

I remember I was doing some trading this one time, had a few tons of tobacco in my hold. Had to stop off at a Federal station for a second, no big deal, I know how to get myself into a station unnoticed. Perused the market for some other things I needed, and noticed they were legally selling landmines. Ain't that the Federation in a nutshell? Tobacco's illegal but landmines are A-OK. Says something about their priorities.

Then it turned out landmines were legal because of the market or government type, not because it was Federal. Still, my opinion of the Feds remains unchanged. :p

If the drift problems with the Chieftain's flight model and its redonkulous armour weights are fixed...

And if it isn't rank locked by the Alliance...

...then so help me I might just make one my primary ship* o.o

I do like green though. Does that help?

* At least until the Krait appears...maybe

Can't wait drop a confetti cloud of Aisling media pamphlets down on unsuspecting alliance faction bystanders from a lakonic chieftan.. :D

I think friendly with the Alliance should be sufficient. I had to grind hard to get those Imperial ships, I will have to grind hard to get the Fed ships, so they should have to grind to get our ships!

I'd be on board if faction fealty/allegiance or naval ranking meant anything.

Major factions may as well serve as ship barriers, and it's so unengaging I don't even want it to do that to any more ships.
