About the Adder...

I just bought one, on a whim, to use as a taxi.
I guess I could've just bought a sidey' instead but I think I'd already subconsciously decided I was going to keep it.

Got it back to my base and stuck a set of DD5 enhanced thrusters on it, out of curiosity, and it boosts to something like 680m/sec with absolutely no other engineering!

I bought an Adder years ago, tried to make it into a mining ship, gave up and sold it again which makes it, along with the T7, one of the only 2 ships I've sold since I started playing.
Knowing that it's so fast, there's got to be something it's good for, right?

Now I just need to find a use for it, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Aside, of course, from painting it green and naming it "Bessie". ;)

I love the Adder, I use one as a taxi too.

Like you, I like it so much that I like to use it for more than just a taxi.

Mine is called Johnny Cab, and he means business, all engineered up and armed. He can take small ships like Sideys and Eagles with ease, and outrun anything he can't handle. Makes a good data delivery runner, but I haven't used it for much else.

The best thing about the Adder: cup holders :)

Adders make pretty good quick traders and light scouts. They hold up a bit better in a fight then an eagle.

With that kind of speed though you might want to look into the Buckyball Races.

I have one and use it for planetary landing to gather materials, fun fast awesome little ship that beats lumbering around in one of the big three when you like cruising planetary surfaces! It's also what I consider my true "starter ship" so has a special place in my Shipyard. Quickly went from Sidey to the Adder, then did most of learning of the game with it.

I love my Adder. Fast, nimble and able to outrun anything ingame while carrying a reasonable amount of cargo.

i also like my adder
named it "Mini Fer-de-Lance", because thats what she is.

there is only one thing i hate about that ship. the position of the seat. right side and so far back that you hardly see anything through the window.

I love my adder, it's great for planetary scan missions and planet side kill the skimmer missions or salvaging guarded caches etc.

I love the retro-1950s sci-fi look of it, it reminds me of the Planet Express ship :)

"Good news everyone! We're delivering a shipment of mugs to Hutton Orbital!"

Same. I have my Adder (Magic Bus) parked at the moment, but she's fun to take out just to zip around the quadrant, delivering data and such.

I love mine. As a small time smuggler, I don't think there's anything better out there, same goes for punching a hole through a CG blockade. And I don't care how many people say "x ship is the millennium falcon of Elite" theres only one, my horrid broken down rustbucked of an Adder with 0% paint.

BTW. I've got mine in beta, carrying cargo with a decent PvE build up to speeds in excess of 730 m/s

The Adder makes for a surprisingly good small Combat Ship. Try RES Bounty Hunting in it.

As it handles well even under considerable Gravity, it also makes for a good Planetary Salvage Vessel.
Other than that, it's fairly fast & sturdy, so it's a reasonably fast and sturdy all-round Courier for small but risky jobs you wouldn't trust to a Sidey or Hauler.

That's how I started doing BH work, with the Adder. C2 Pulse and twin MCs. It could hold its own in its weight class for more combat than I had expected. It's currently arranged as a criminal touring limo; looks sharp in Black Friday.

Also it sounds haunted.

I remember someone on the forum saying they loved fighting in their adder. They had switched to a DBS and hated it. Went back to the adder because they thought it was more fun. I hope they find this thread and chime in.

The Adder was the first ship I owned in the game. Back then I had to sell it to upgrade to another ship as credits were slim (and insurance had to be covered). It was a good ship though and served me well as the new Cmdr I was at the time.

I actually regret selling it and miss it a bit.

When I get over my current big exploration and get back to The Bubble I think I might buy another one, for old time's sake.
