Game Owners Elite Dangerous Talk Forums!!

While I can see both sides of this, er, discussion, I am reminded that I came to these forums with a ton of questions before I purchased ED. I had not made up my mind to buy it at the time though I was interested. I did a lot of reading also. I got quite a bit of great help and tips too.

Without access to the forums I may not have purchased ED as I try to reasearch my games before purchasing them. What better way than via its forums and players.

I do see some pretty negative posts that make me wonder if their not just trolls but I try not to let them get to me.

The inital idea is that everyone can post on the forums but if you own the game will be shown next to your username.

I read this forum throughout most of the kickstarter, waiting to buy the game once it was released. IIRC I only registered to get rid of an irritating 'why not register?' banner, only for it to be replaced with an even bigger 'why not join in the conversation?' banner.

So I did. To get rid of an irritating banner ;)

Wait a second while I look for the 'give me all your money, I am a Nigerian prince' banner...

Thanks for clarifying this. I think that's a great idea ... in the IL-2 forums we have a chevron for each version (battle) we own ... something like that or keep it simple ...

Chief, there will be grognards with re-up hash marks on their underwear....with pictures. Not good. Arguing about dates of rank in 1984. I think mine's 22 SEP...

There are people here who don't own elite? Why are they here then? People are odd.
Then there's all the people who seem to passionately hate ED and FD, and have no faith in it ever improving, yet seem to always be on the forums complaining about it. I think some people just have too much time on their hands.

Does it really matter? Instead of the forum warrior norm "You don't own Elite, because I percieve you have a negative opinion on subject matter x." we'll have "You don't play Elite anymore/enough, because I percieve you have a negative opinion on subject x"

I don't think we need a separate forum for owners, nor do I want to stop people from posting if they don't own the game. As has been said before there may be potential owners out there just looking for some info about the game before buying it.

Having said that I do think that some type of indication next to your name that you actually own a version (or multiple versions) of the game would allow other forum users to make an informed judgement about how much credit can be given to a post.

That's my 2p worth.
